In my experience they credit the value to your TrueBlue account. Not sure what happens if you don't have a TB account.

It could be so much worse. Leave me stranded in paradise anytime, any reason. Right after 911 I got stranded in St Martin and told me they could not get me out until Tuesday. ( It was Saturday) Unfortunatly, I had to get back to work. and they found us 2 seats. Boo Hoo.
