  • Platinum Exchange disappointment

This is an open note to Platinum Exchange and also to exchangers. We just returned from Wynnwood Townhomes in San Antonio. When we arrived at the locked entrance gate with Check-in paperwork mailed to us by Platinum Exchange, the Gate Code given did not open the gate. After five futile attempts we tried the Emergency phone number and was given an entirely different code!
The unit is located within a regular condo development, not timeshare. Upon entering the living room we noticed one couch with a loosely placed coverlet and stained. The sliding glass door verticals were missing three 'strips' making a foot of the window uncoverable at night. There were minimal glasses, most mismatched; no microwavable bowls (we went to store and bought some); the only kitchen item supplied was dishwasher soap, both liquid and powder -- no paper towels, salt/pepper, coffee filters - nothing. All windows had blinds but no draperies, leaving you with a 'cold' feeling in the unit. We had three place mats in a unit that sleeps 8. Dead flies were on kitchen window sill.
On a positive side, the outside grounds were well kept and full of trees. Buildings were brick, parking was assigned. We had washer and dryer in unit. Staff was very helpful and friendly.
Two bedrooms were on second floor, but it involved a very steep stairway with 16 stairs which the first night our light burned out and we had to wait until Monday to get replacement. The Office did get a maintenance man over quickly and he replaced the light and put in new blinds.Furniture was very marginal -- drawers did not open easily but there was lots of storage space.
Biggest disappointment was the distance to Riverwalk and other attractions. It took about 45 minutes and lots of courage to brave those freeways. You have to take 3-5 different ones and they are being renovated so lots of narrow lanes that curve. Cars come on left and right of you -- very scary for a tourist.
It was our first time to use Platinum Exchange and we obviously are disappointed in this exchange. It didn't stop us,however, from enjoying the Riverwalk, Alamo and towns further away.

    Thank you for the information

Thank you for taking the time to make us aware of your experience with Wynnwood Resorts in San Antonio, Texas and Platinum Interchange. It's customers like you who help us to provide better customer service.
We are going to be in contact with this resort and their property management company to make them aware of the issues you encountered. For instance, the code provided to Platinum Interchange is what their company provided to us, so we will determine what the proper code is to use. In the future if you elect to do another exchange with Platinum Interchange, you may contact us during regular business hours or after hours in an emergency (dial Platinum Interchange number and enter #3; see platinuminterchange.com contact page for emergency information) and we will be happy to assist you in resolving the situation.
We are sorry you experienced such difficulties and will address each issue accordingly. We will continue to closely monitor the quality of service this resort provides and will make every effort to do our part.
Again, thank you for your time and for making us aware of this situation. If you have any other questions, please don't hesitate to contact us at 1-800-854-2324.

Thank you Platinum Exchange for your reply. In our opinion, the important maintenance items for you to address to them are:
Increase the kitchen items to include microwavable bowls; increase the number of glasses (at least in the unit we occupied); check the coffeemakers (ours took 25 minutes to finish brewing 10 cups); repair the wall gouges and scrapes; and be aware when the sliding door blinds are missing slats.
Perhaps your office could verify Gate Codes prior to sending out your packets on this and other timeshares? Most secured developments change their codes periodically for security purposes.
