    Can someone at DAE tell us when this goes in effect and how it will affect those of us that already have banked weeks and requests in with DAE for exchange? Can we remain members and get our requested exchanges with no annual fee?

    It looks like we can "upgrade" to Gold for $39 at this time. At the end of explanations of benefits it states that going forward membership for Gold will be $89/year.

    All current requests are "Gold"

    I talked to Donita at DAE today. (I love her)

    I asked her about some of my concerns. Anyway, I just got an email from her letting me know that any current requests are considered "Gold".

    Good, I think that is very fair.

      Gold Advantage is an upgrade OPTION. You do not have to become a member and we will ALWAYS have a free member option available.

      As for requests, Gold Advantage doesn’t affect members who already have requests in the system – we are treating all existing requests as Gold requests. But moving forward, Gold Advantage requests made will carry a priority in the queue for fulfillment. This benefit simply puts a priority on requests placed by a Gold Advantage Member. This is just like an amusement park priority pass! Some folks pay $80 per person to get into the amusement park – some elect to pay an extra $50 to bypass long lines in the amusement park. Regardless, we also consider how long ANY member has been waiting for a requested week to come in as well as whether or not the member has a deposit in our system against those requests.

        For us lazy oafs who have multiple deposits in DAE and don't currently have a request, wouldn't it be sensible to "grandfather" those deposits into Gold???

          I don't think I understand your question. Deposits are not effected by Gold Advantage per se. Only the requests. All deposits are valid ongoing....

          Do you need to submit requests against those deposits?

          We don't typically receive requests for every deposit made. Only a percentage of total deposits are accompanied by requests and we also have several requests that come in without a deposit.

            I wasn't being nebulous. I have deposits that, when requests are made, would have been whereever they would be in the queue. NOW, that I am not Gold, these deposits already made with you and their associated requests when made will not go in first come - first served, they will go behind all the Gold requests. I say again, for us lazy oafs who have multiple deposits in DAE and don't currently have a request, wouldn't it be sensible to "grandfather" those deposits into Gold??? meaning they should be treated as if they were Gold or under the old rules from when they were deposited.

              Hello,

              Only requests that are currently in the queue are being considered Gold Advantage requests.

              If there is no current request, you need to enter them in now.

              Again, deposits do not equal requests.

              But in any case we will work with all members on a case by case basis. Give us a call and we can help.

                So the DAE answer to the question was NO.

                  For those of us who were not quite so lazy, but who didn't see this coming, and therefore put in pie-in-the sky requests that will likely not be confirmed, wouldn't it be good business practice for DAE to grandfather into Gold, all requests, past and future, made against those deposits that were already in the system before Gold Advantage changed the rules?

                      Just give us a call, we can always work issues out on an individual basis.

                      Or make an online request this month. We will make sure to treat the requests we receive this month as Gold Advantage requests.

                            Hello,

                            The $39 one year membership price is a promtional price. We have set a retail price on it of $89. The promtional price is in effect for the month of February, maybe longer.

                            The renewal price at the end of the year will most likey be $49. Renewal members will not require membership card or handbook that the first time buyers get thus a lower price.

                              Some questions come to mind....

                              1. Does this really mean what it says. Does the request "go to the front of the line" ahead of existing GA requests? Or just ahead of non-GA requests?
                              2. Can a GA member change a requested resort/location or must the original request be cancelled and a new one established?
                              3. If a GA member changes a request does it maintain any priority by the date of the original request or does the change establish a new priority date?
                              4. Does the strength of the deposit have any bearing on the priority of the request?
