  • Hilton taking over Westgate Planet Hollywood Towers

Resort Finance America, LLC has announced that it has acquired a controlling interest in Planet Hollywood Towers by Westgate Resorts in Las Vegas. RFA has appointed Hilton Grand Vacations to rebrand the timeshare property and provide vacation ownership sales and marketing services.

That will certainly make the Hilton on the north end of the strip worth less.

Interesting, I had heard strong rumors that Wyndham had taken it over...

There are a lot of people who spent BIG bucks on those units, they can't be happy.

          Great.
Just what we need as HGVC owners, another TS in Vegas.

Nice. As a soon to be HGVC owner, this provides another virtually-on-the-strip location. I'm looking forward to open season here. And there is bound to be lots available given how much PH is currently undersold.

Will this resort be under RCI or II for trading purposes ?

My assumption would be that it would be a sort of dual enrollment, but perhaps limited to when the ownership was purchased. In other words- Westgate weeks owners would still exchange through Interval, and hilton points owners would exchange through rci.

This would be similar to the Westgate Vacation Villas, which has one phase that exchanges through RCI while all others use Interval International.

What was really surprising to me was the low ratio of sales to villas. Hilton should have a field day! The resort shows as 1,201 villas- which equates to 60,050 interval weeks. If Westgate only sold 12,000- that leaves 80% unsold! If they can get maintenance fees down a little- and remove the giant swoosh- this should be easy to market.

Plus, Hilton should have an easy time selling upgrades to existing owners- many of whom are likely unhappy with the internal exchange system and high fees they have in place now with Westgate. This should be beneficial to both developers. Westgate rids itself of a costly mistake and Hilton adds another sales center in Vegas.

Currently with II - but HGVC is not - maybe dual?

HGVC is also affiliated with SFX and has been for several years.

I'm a Planet Hollywood and PH Towers fan. I'm glad this is happening and hopefully soon so I can start booking when it converts to HGV. Hopefully its in RCI soon as well.

I've stayed at 2br top timeshare resorts in Caymans, Bermuda, Cabo, Playa del Carmen, and Puerto Rico. PH Towers is a top notch facility with amazing rooms.
Glad I found this site. Only joined actually so I can follow up and updates on PH Towers availability through exchange.

Just spent 3 nights at PH Towers this weekend and the rooms/suites are amazing. Its connected to the Miracle Mile shops of Planet Hollywood resort/casino. I"m a big PH hotel fan and have stayed there dozens of times the last couple years. Just to let people know that PH vibe is a more party crowd. Alot of younger adults or anyone that is into the Las Vegas party scene. If you're looking for quiet and relaxing environment, its not the same as staying at the HGVC nearby that is on its own property.
Great thing about the PH Towers is that it is connected to the PH hotel which has a casino. Maybe good or bad for others. LOL.

Glad to be part of the board.
