Skyauction selling rci certificates for $ 179

And they say they have 20,000 new units. Why own and trade thru RCI ?

Exactly. RCI means Rake (in deposits) Convert (to rentals) Increase (RCI profit) This is not a timeshare exchange company, it is a timeshare harvest company....they harvest our deposits and yield massive rental fees, on top of our dues which give us the "exciting opportunity" to deposit some more with them.

This is the sort of information that needs to be passed on to our HOA's and fellow timeshare owners.

We also need to pass on a list of independent exchange companies.

Tony,

Where are they located on the sky auction site? I couldn't locate them on the site.

Before anyone gets too excited, take a peek at the inventory. Most of it is truly bottom-feeder stuff that I wouldn't pay $10 for. There's also some inventory that you have to pay extra for---and that's a small subset of the usual Extra Vacations stuff, often at higher-than-EV prices when you add it all up. There might well be some gems in there, but I've not seen one.

It's not nearly the deal/tragedy that it appears at first glance.

But it is 20,000 less opportunities for RCI members to exchange into and it does erode the value of timesharing by its very existence.

So it is all right with you that RCI rents out deposits? They are certainly not all bottom feeders....I have seen Aruba, Hawaii, Arizona, San Fran and many other great rentals on this site. Sure they may say (additional charge)...but the folks who do rent from this site are not paying also for an RCI membership....and they have no limitations, no 4 in one rules, no other mystery trading power in play....

I knew I shouldn't have even bothered.

Please, feel free to continue today's "Two Minutes' Hate" while I continue to get great vacations at low costs.

We traded into the Wyndham Cypress Palms in Orlando last week (March 22 to 29). We met a couple who bought the same week for $199 on skyauction and well in advance, not last minue.
