Question New Buyers Remorse...

My husband & I attended a presentation yesterday from Bluegreen in St. Augustine. After numerous offers, we were willing to walk away. However, we were presented with a "Sample" package for $995; 9000 points to be used in off season. On impulse, we purchased the "sample" package. We returned home today & started doing research. I found a lot feedback about the company (good & bad); then I found this site; very informative! I read that Bluegreen may be bought out by Diamond. Now I am really feeling remorse. I've already drafted my letter to get out of the contract; (I have 8 days left). Fustrated and unsure Our doubts come from others that have said they can't get any times that they want, and we have limited time off that we want to utilize as best as possible.

What do you all think. Should we go ahead and cancell now or give it a whirl? and why?

Cancel right away, following directions spelled out very carefully. You can certainly get the same deal again once you are informed if you so choose. And welcome to this forum.

Welcome to TS4Ms .

Cancel and read some of the posts here about buyers remorse, resale purchases, and owning timeshares.
There are lots of types of timeshares, some points, some weeks and you have to decide which is the best for you. Take your time, ask questions and decide which one you like.

You have to learn how to use timeshares and plan vacations. I spoke to a friend (pre-timeshare owner) who stated they could never find anything with their unit.
It wasn't until a couple of years later that I started buying timeshares ( all resale) and realized that they just didn't know how to use the product.

We enjoyed being sampler members. That's really what got us hooked. We had no problems booking two separate vacations within a 3 to 4 month window of check-in. Maybe we were just lucky. We were able to get 10 days vacation out of it with some points left over. This was a few years back but I don't think we had to pay that much for it. It is not a bad deal if you use it but I think those points do expire in 12 months.

You might be able to rent some points from an owner to be able to try Bluegreen during peak season if that's what you want. It might cost a little more per point but you will have more options.

There is a Bluegreen Forum on this site. You should check it out.

Good Luck!

You didn't buy a timeshare you bought a sampler/one time use, if they allow cancellation you should count yourself lucky but I believe you should just use the sampler and see how you like it, then you'll know even better if you want to buy.

It is a sample package. I don't know about that program, but look at the point required for each resort, and see if you can extend that package to 2 stay. If you can, even if a shoulder or off-season, than I will suggest to keep it, so you will get a feeling about TS.

Than read about resale, the program.

Although it is in the process of being bought, the impact will not be there immediatedly. at least for the time being, the will try to treat sample packager better.

If you don't see a way to extend it, than cancel it. I am pretty sure once you try it, you will love to add TS as your vacation package.

Thanks for the input. I think we're going to rescind. We're going to continue to research & most likely buy resale within the next 6 months. I'm really excited and feel we are making a more informed decision.

I'm a BG owner but I'm not familiar with the sampler package. I have heard of it and I think the people who've mentioned it were happy with it. But whether it would work for you is hard for anyone here to tell without knowing a lot about how you vacation.

If I was you I'd post in the BG forum here or send a private message to Jim who's userid is BocaBum99. He's the resident BG expert and he can probably help you in a lot of ways.

Also, if I was you ... and I know what I know now ... I'd be happy. Yeah you may have some remorse about the sampler package, but you didn't make the big mistake that a lot of TS owners did make (and this list includes me). You didn't buy a TS at developer prices which are much more than resale prices. It's not that BG is a terrible TS, it's just that buying at a sales presentation never seems to be the right decision.

Be thankful that you walked to the edge of the cliff and didn't jump. You've actually done extremely well to not have bought in and found this forum while you still have time to recind your sampler package.

I'm a blue green member and absolutely love it! But, if you want to "try it out" it's probably a better deal to rent a unit for a week or a few days and see what you think. That's a good way to try it for less. Good luck!
