Buying advice

My family are looking into purchasing, but have major reservations. My first thought on a purchase is ski-in ski-out in Summit county. Either Keystone, Copper, or Brekenridge. We are tied to spring break, but that will fluctuate weeks ever so often. Are these weeks valuable and easy to trade? What is the best way to purchase?

On the question of exchanges, does it matter if the unit is affiliated with RCI or II, or can we exchange through either group or independant?
Thanks
Totally

In '06 we would have needed week 10 for the next few years we need week 11. It should change every 3-4 years.

Welcome

Have no idea about ski resort, nor do I know anything on II. But here is a few thought

In US, I believe Spring Break is usually close to the end of Ski season. So, not sure if it still a good trade. X'Mas usually is more strong demand I believe, but could be wrong.

If you are looking for Spring Break, then you may want to look at floating week and / or point system that cover the area you are looking. Point system maybe WM will fit your desire. Floating week, maybe Marriott can fit your desire? Just two system comes to my mind, not mean I think these are the two you should purchased into

Most of the resorts usually affliate with either II or RCI. Few has dual affliation. It is upto you to determine which system you want to be with, although most people may want ablility to joint both with 1 payment, it never occurs.

You may need to provide more what you perfer in order for people to give you more meaningful suggestion.

Things like where you mostly likely planning to use the exchange company to go?
What type of accomodate you can accept?
The room size you usually travel need?
The time your exchange will occurs?
What option is more important than the other.

If you more likely use the resort 30% of the time or more, it probably will be a good purchase no matter what.

Do you live out West? Consider costs airfare in any scenario requiring it for you.

Agree with Jya-Ning that points or floating may be a better bet for you. Many MANY choices. Lots of mini-systems that maybe have locations you want to visit when you don't want to ski.

Especially if you have kids nearing graduation, consider how your vacation plans might change in 5 years or so and try to find a purchase that will serve you well both now and then.

Welcome and good luck!
