Our Annual Baseball Trip

I just returned from our annual Baseball Trip yesterday. The idea is to see 5 or 6 Baseball Stadiums on each Tour and over several years try to get to see all of the Baseball Stadiums.

My son and his friends plan this trip as soon as the Baseball schedule is posted for all of the teams each year. I don’t have to do a thing as they do all of the planning for each Tour.

The Tour started on Wednesday by getting up at 3:15 am to take a 6:10 am flight to Boston. We arrived in Boston, got to the hotel, and we were ready to see the sights of Boston by 11:00 am. One of the first sights was Cheers (where everybody knows your name) or the Bull and Finch Pub as we were walking along the Freedom Trail.

At 5:00 pm we went to Fenway Park and we were part of the 500th consecutive sellouts crowd. Boston beat Florida, 6 to 1.

The next morning we got up at 4:30 am to catch the 6:00 am train to NYC. By the time we arrived it started to rain. We check into our Hotel and took the subway to New Yankee Stadium. We arrived at the Stadium at 11:30 am as it continued to rain. The game was still in a rain delay when we left at 4:00 pm. But the game was started at 6:30 pm with Washington beating New York. 3 to 0.

The next morning we got up at 6:00 am and we took the train to Bethpage State Park to see the US Open Golf Tournament at the Black Course in Farmingdale, N.Y. The course was really wet and very muddy. Walking the course was not a very good option. So, I sat at the 18th hole and watch the tournament until 4:00 pm.

We then took the train to Citi Field, home of the Mets. We saw a good game with the Mets beating the Rays 5 to 3.

The next morning we could sleep in until 7:00 am because the train to Philadelphia left NYC at 9:00 am. We arrived in Philadelphia, check into our hotel, and then took the bus to see the Liberty Bell and Independence Hall. At 5:30 pm we went to Citizens Bank Park to see the Phillies play the Orioles. This was the best game of the Tour when we saw Ryan Howard hit a pinch-hit homer off Orioles reliever Danys Baez in the seventh to temporarily propel the Phillies ahead, 5-3. Ryan Howard hit the 3 run homer as a PH after spending the night in the Hospital with a Virus that caused a 104 temperature. They lost the game 6 to 5 because their fill in "closer" gave up 2 homers and 3 runs

The next morning we took the train to Washington DC after arriving in Washington we walked to the US Capitol, Washington’s Monument, and the White House. We told a Cab to the Washington National/Blue Jay Game at 1:15 pm and saw the World War II Memorial as we went by. The Blue Jays beat the Nationals 9 to 4.

At 4:00 pm we went to the airport, left Washington at 6:00 pm and we were home by 8:30 pm.

I took a Hot Tub and was in bed by 10:30 pm.

Citi Field
Fenway Park
Citizens Bank Park
Yankee Stadium
Nationals Park

The Best Hot Dog or Italian Sausage

My total cost for the Tour including tickets for the game and the US Open Golf was about $1000.
