Yep, Just like what Wacky said, except I think it also helped Leno as any publicity is good publicity...

There was a poll running here in the Bay area about this ad. 2/3 think the ad helps Letterman and the other 1/3 think it helps Leno.

OMG I didn't see this one before. It's hilarious!
I don't think most people would get this one though due to the Napoleon reference...

Entertainment Weekly said it was the coolest thing Leno has done in...well, ever.

Leno told the story on his show last night. Did anyone watch Letterman and did he say anything? According to Jay, Dave's producer called Jay's producer and said that Dave wanted Jay to do the commercial. Jay said okay. Neither shows' staff knew anything about it. Jay canceled his show for Tuesday citing personal reasons. He flew to NY and donned a disguise with sunglasses, mustache and hooded attire. He was driven to the studio in a black SUV and ushered inside amidst strong security. He said that they talked about old times and the last 18 yrs and shook hands.

The next day someone form the show or NBC (can't remember who) went to Jay and told him they heard that a secret figure had shown up at Dave's studio to film an ad promoting his show. Jay asked who they thought it was and he said "President Obama". Jay told him to keep him informed and then everyday he would call and ask if they had any updates. Jay seemed genuinely pleased that Dave called him and that maybe they can renew their friendship.
