Back from Las Vegas

We just got back Saturday evening from spending 5 nights in Las Vegas. We stayed the first 3 nights at Caesar's Palace. We had a great room on an upper floor of the Augustus Tower overlooking the Bellagio water show. We went to the Bette Midler show Tuesday night. We had awesome seats in the middle of the front orchestra 15 rows back from the stage. I wouldn't want to be any closer due to the way the seats are slanted. The show was great. For those of you that may be interested in seeing Bette, she will be leaving in January when her contract is up.

We did almost all of our playing at Caesar's though we did play a little at the Flamingo and Paris. We actually did pretty well at Caesar's after we found the good machines. All in all, we had a great time at Caesar's and will definitely go back.

It was pretty crowded at Caesar's, Flamingo, and Paris though there seemed to be less traffic and people on the strip than usual.

The last 2 nights we stayed at the Silverton mainly to do some serious playing. Unfortunately, that was a big mistake as we did a lot better at Caesar's but that is the way it goes. We could have stayed the last 2 nights at Caesar's. In any event, it is all a matter of being in the right place at the right time. The Silverton was literally empty all day and night Thursday. They have 2300 slot/vp machines and I bet there weren't more than a 100 people playing. Friday was better but it was gift day for the locals so there were lineups all day long of people collecting their free gifts.

For Video Poker players, it is very important that you check the pay tables at the all the VP machines as they do vary within the same casino. At both Caesar's and the Silverton, there is considerable variance from very poor to pretty decent. That is common at many casinos. You just have to find the good ones which is easy for Video Poker as the pay table determines the payback percentage. At Caesar's, stay away from the ones next to the Sport Book. There are better ones elsewhere in the casino.

From the time I lived in Reno as a kid to all my trips to Lake Tahoe/Reno and few times to Vegas I heard same game plan for slots!

The worse place in any club for slots are near the tables. Table players playing for larger amount of money hate having a slots going off around them with all the noise and someone getting excited over winning few bucks.

One of the best was close to the entrance but these are normal good payoff but small amounts.

Best slots seem to be off from most other games like center of a casino.

What you say is true to some ectent but not like it used to be when the machines used coins. Now there is little rhyme nor reason to the placement. The reason casinos change the locations of machines is to find the optimum traffic patterns so more people will spread out and play them.
