Myrtle Beach Fun
If anyone is interested in MB let me know. I will be glad to answer questions if I can. I really prefer No MB (home of the shag) but have been all over that place. I'ts changed a lot (no necessarily for the better) but it still tugs at my heart. shaggy

Our daughter is going to college in that area and we will be frequent visitors. Give us a list of all the fun stuff to do.
We like day trips
Shows
Shopping
Fun Bars
Off the beaten track adventures
Thanks!

Where do you start? There is so much to do and MB has a wonderful web site so please check it for more info. You should also put in a search here for MB and you will get more ideas. My favs to eat are Hoskins in NMB (main st) Sea Captains (dressy and on the ocean) and in Calabash Miss Ella's. Murrills' is similar to Calabash but at the extreme end ( one is No MB the other is SMB)
Attractions with the Shaggy seal of approval: Country Music Shows: One, The Carolina Opry, Legends. Dixie Stampede if you haven't done it already, once is enuff.
Sidetrips: Brookgreen Gardens, Pawley's Island, Georgetown
That should keep ya busy!! shaggy

I will second Brookgreen gardens. When we visit Myrtle, it is in March. Minnesota is covered with snow. Brookgreen gardens has green grass, flowers in bloom and is wonderful.
We did Giant Crab (North Myrtle Beach) this year and found (for a tourist place or even not a tourist place) the food was very good, and we had a great view of one of the aquariums.

Hey Shaggy! Any suggestions for a good club to visit if we've never tried shag dancing and we'd like to? We're a 40+ couple and we may have friends along. With or without some 18-year-olds, depending on the place?
Any favorite REASONABLE restaurants, if you wanted pretty good atmosphere/service and VERY good food? We like local places. Fresh FISH, steak, chicken, Italian or Mexican are all good, in that order of preference. Not pork/bbq fans though. We'll be staying in North Myrtle at Wyn Ocean Blvd. Your thoughts? Thanks!!!

Lisa, you are in luck. YOu are in shag club nirvana. You have your choice up & down main street (just around the corner from the resort. My 2 favs haave always been Fat Harolds ( he died a couple of years ago) and the Spanish Galleon. They have different type of music in different rooms of this club, so you can do shag, pop, etc. Ducks 1 & Ducks II are great little clubs but the shagging there is intimidating. The real pros hang out there.
The OD Arcade is known for their burgers. Casa Linda has great Mexican. Again, Sea Captains house is a fav of everybody's for a nice meal out.

We have been there in March when some of the restaurants are just opening or will be in the next couple weeks. By May, everything should be in full operation. Bike Week is in mid May, and the place is a hopping at that time.
