Best Branson Resort

Looking for information on the best time of the year to go to Branson and the best place to stay. It would need to be in the summer when i am on school break. Kids are 11-17. They like most everything. I like relaxing Of course I generally get to do that when we come back from vacation.

I would prefer using II. But could use either.

With RCI, if you want to a nice resort but want to be a little out of the way, Silverleafs Holiday Hills is a very nice resort. The presidential suites are very nice. We've never been in one of the standard units.

In town we've own at French Quarter resort and feel that it's one of the nicer resorts. It's on the west end of hwy 76 (the main drag) but has access to the yellow alternate route to help get out of traffic. Decent units but not the Hilton or Marriott quailty. A nice pool but it seems to get pretty crowded the one time we were there in July. French Quarter shares the pool with it's sister resort Grand Regency.

As for I.I. Horizon's by Marriott has the best pool complex of any of the Branson resort be it RCI or I.I. The units are Marriott quality but lack the soaker or jetted bath tub. This resort is in town, off hwy 76 and on the yellow access route. It's a good location close to the action without being right in the middle of the action.

We haven't stayed at Stormy Point Village yet but, their little 2 and 3 bedroom cottage homes look very interesting. Eventually we'll exchange into this resort just because it looks nice and we like the idea of having our own cottage style house. It's a little further away from the action, more secluded, closer to Silver Dollar City but, it's not so far away that getting into the middle of the Branson Strip is any big deal.

It would really be tough to go wrong with anything Branson offered that was Gold Crown with RCI or Prefered with I.I. All of the resorts we've stayed at in Branson or toured in Branson have been very nice. We have photo albums of several of the resorts we've stayed at on our Webshots page. Most are I.I. resorts. Unfortunately, I don't have an album of Silverleafs Holiday Hills as I wasn't putting the albums together when we stayed there. Otherwise it's a pretty decent representation of the quality you can expect in most Branson resorts. The link to our timeshare photo albums can be found in my signature below.

We have been able to get an exchange for the Wyndham in Branson. It was very nice and had several activities that our 9 yr old enjoyed. Our 13 yr old was happy to stay at the pool. It was close to everything. We went in August and it was warm... ok ... hot!! The nice thing was Silver Dollar City. It was very shaded so even though it was in the high 90s outside the park, it felt much cooler with all of the trees.

We have also stayed at Bluegreen's Big Cedar. Very very nice. It depends on what you want to do while in Branson. Big Cedar was 45 minutes away from the heart of Branson so we limited our trips into town and had a more relaxing sit-by-the-pool week. We also rented a pontoon boat for Table Rock Lake.

Enjoy!
Amy

Except for the 20 or so other well above average Branson resorts, the others covered this pretty well.

What do you and the kids like to do? We have lake resorts, golf resorts with the normal other amenities, and in town Branson entertainment area resorts.

BTW, I just searched a specific summer date, July 11, 2009, for another matter, and there wasn't anything available in Branson. So, even with all the resorts, the summer weeks are at a premium.

Oh Boy . . I tried to find this post that I started and couldn't . . why did I list it under South Central? I think I need another vacation

I'm not sure what to do in Branson. My family likes most things. We like the beach, mountains, outdoors, amusements, waterparks, shows. I don't like riding on bicycles with seats that are too small and I can live without going para-sailing again. We prefer to vacation in friendly areas.

We homeschool our children. They prefer not to spend their vacation going to museums. We will schedule a museum if it is something interesting where we have never been like the childrens museum in Indianapolis.

Emily, there are many wonderful places to stay in Branson. The favorite for families, I think, is Wyndham Meadows or Mountain Vista (don't choose Wyndham Falls). They are about 3 miles south of the "Strip."; Meadows has elevators, two outdoor pools, one indoor pool, an outdoor pavilion where they have nightly activities during the summer.

As for time of year, June would be best weather wise; July and August are super hot! Silver Dollar City is always a favorite. Even though fairly expensive, it is a fun, full day!

As far as shows, check out Branson Missouri Vacation Packages for Branson Hotels, Show & Attractions - ReserveBranson.com. Put in your dates and it will give you a list of shows, attractions, etc. It might not get updated for next year til about April. The Haygoods are a teen favorite! The Duttons were on America's Got Talent. All of the shows in Branson are family friendly. If you see something you are interested in, check directly with the theater about family passes, etc. Also, check back with me cause there is no reason to spend full price on shows, cause we know several discount sites (except for SDC).

If you prefer II, I think the Cabins at Green Mountain (a Festiva Resort) trades thru them. Nice convenient location, and a nice "solitary" cabin feel, with no one above or below you. Also, Stormy Point Village, like was already mentioned, is really cool, really new. It has a windy, couple of mile narrow road to it, but not too bad.
