We already have VIP gold. If we purchase enough resale to give us over a million points, you are saying we would still only have gold, but not VIP Platinum. The extra resale points would never get VIP benefits? I suppose that would still be good if they were obtained cheaply enough.

When you say "stay anything VIP", are you saying that buying resale would 'kill' an already VIP status?

Robert, if I remember correctly, you consistently have extra points at the end of the year. Why would you ever buy more?

The sales staff has dangled a carrot in front of you. It looks nice, but is rotten to the core. Do not bite.

You won't up your status by buying resale whether it be CWA or at a specific resort. If you keep what you have and add resale points you will remain at your current status (gold). If you sell/or give away what you currently have in order to lower your MF per 1000 points, you will lose your status unless you immediately buy enough points to keep your status from Wyndham. You can do an equity trade in with Wyndham but I would think you would be looking at paying an extra $20,000-$40,000 to Wyndham on top of the additional MF's from the extra points.

Right now the extra points would still get the benefits from your gold account. They just wouldn't give you platinum benefits. Wyndham has been threatening for years to start distinguishing between VIP eligible points and non VIP eligible points but it hasn't happened yet. If they do this then you would only be able to get the perks associated with the VIP for the reservations actually booked with VIP eligible points.

I think we did pretty well in 2014. Not being so unhealthy for the year helped.

We had 14,700 points at years end because I booked mostly Last Minute for 2 and 3 bedroom units for 2 to 5 nights at a time.

not a million point contract, but close>>>>extrapolate to a million

    heres my 885000 CWA

    Contract Type: Undivided Interest (UDI)
    Points: 885,000
    Total HOA Fee
Total HOA Fee for 1,000 Points: $4.90
    Maintenance Fees: (885,000 / 1000) * $4.90 = $4,336.50
    Total HOA Fee: (885,000 / 1000) * $4.90 = $4,336.50
    Program Fee
Program Rate for 1,000 Points: $0.55
    Program Fee: (885,000 / 1000) * $0.55 = $486.75
    CLUB WYNDHAM Plus Assessment
    Annual Fee: $4,336.50 + $486.75 = $4,823.25
    * Monthly Fee: $4,823.25 / 12 = $401.94

and here a million at Harbor Lights

    Contract Type: Undivided Interest (UDI)
    Points: 1,031,000
    Total HOA Fee
Total HOA Fee for 1,000 Points: $5.33
    Maintenance Fees: (1,031,000 / 1000) * $4.06 = $4,185.86
    Reserve Fund: (1,031,000 / 1000) * $0.82 = $845.42
    Property Tax: (1,031,000 / 1000) * $0.45 = $463.95
    Total HOA Fee: (1,031,000 / 1000) * $5.33 = $5,495.23
    Program Fee
Program Rate for 1,000 Points: $0.57
    Program Fee: (1,031,000 / 1000) * $0.57 = $587.67
    CLUB WYNDHAM Plus Assessment
    Annual Fee: $5,495.23 + $587.67 = $6,082.90
    * Monthly Fee: $6,082.90 / 12 = $506.91

    and 721000 Star Island

    Contract Type: Undivided Interest (UDI)

    Property Tax: (721,000 / 1000) * $0.48 = $346.08
    Total HOA Fee: (721,000 / 1000) * $5.28 = $3,806.88

It is possible to use resale weeks to up your Status from Gold to Platinum, even Silver to Platinum You will have to make a small (50000-100000 points) from Wyndham to make it happen but it can be done Its called the PIC program

It is also possible to convert certain weeks contracts at certain Wyndham resorts to VIP eligible points. This also requires a direct Wyndham purchase I went from nothing to Platinum with a $12000 purchase, ($6000 down $150 a month for 5 years.)

I have another Platinum account that was done with all resale contracts. I think I know the formula to duplicate that, but Im not sure...Ill let you know if I can make it happen again
