    Been looking at Paris rentals...

For the 6th and 7th arrondissements. Challenging, and no timeshare prices.... been trying to narrow down and found what looked like a great listing - spacious and well located, but then I saw this pic Which reminded me that in Paris, when they say third floor, it's really the fourth...

That cannot include the time it will take to get up those stairs. I cannot even imagine the luggage shlepping days! I was willing to do three flights but I have got to draw the line somewhere!

We have stayed at a truly excellent bed and breakfast in Paris. We had our own bedroom (king sized bed) with bathroom. In addition, we had our own sitting room (outside the bedroom). Both our bedroom and our sitting room opened out onto our own private balcony that ran the length of the apartment. Our bedroom, the sitting room (both of which had sliding doors to our patio) and the balcony had absolutely unobstructed views of the Eiffel Tower and Sacre Cour. It is in the penthouse apartment (her unit is 2 stories) of a doctor. She uses the balcony on the 9th floor; our balcony and bedroom and sitting room opened to the balcony on the 10th floor. The elevator goes to the 9th floor; the inside staircase, of course, goes up to the 10th floor. It is 1 block from the metro stop. It's a truly great place to stay.

Sounds lovely - would love the info if you wouldn't mind PMing it. Did you have a kitchenette of any kind? Fridge?

No, no kitchenette or fridge. We had breakfast there, of course, and since we are red wine drinkers, we didn't need a fridge for that. The rest of the time we were pretty much out and about. I'll find the information and pm you.

It is certainly pretty....and then I got to the stairs pic and laughed out loud. I only schlepped 3 short flights in our condo on Kauai-but I was pretty much over it...especially the day I biked 5 miles.

It is funny, now! I got to that pic and was TOTALLY BUMMED, but glad I saw it before I booked the place! I am done with stairs after my stint on the third (american third) floor at Oak n Spruce. I won't be biking 5 miles anywhere but while in Pairs I plan to do plenty of walking where it counts!

At least they were honest...it could have come as a total surprise once you arrived. I hope you find something. Paris sounds lovely.
