That is what is known as a PCC (''post card company'' for the way they used to mainly solicite business). All of them are scams in some way or other, but some worse than others. They want a large sum of money, often ~$3,000 to take your timeshare off your hands, and then may never really complete the transfer out of your name.

Some timeshare management companies announced a pushback against this process some months ago, where they are going to start suing both the PCC and their own members who used them for Fraudulent Conveyance, seeking money damages. So unless you fancy having the word ''defendant'' after your name in a court in the state where the timeshare is located, then I would stay away from PCC's. Several state Attorney Generals have cracked down on PCC's in their states, forcing them to quit their busines in that state, fining them, and ordering them to pay restitution.
If you just want to get rid of it, you can put up a free auction at www.bidshares.com with a starting price of $1 and no reserve. If it is a decent resort and week, somebody might take it off your hands. You can also do eBay, but you compete with some of the PCC's there, and there is a fee for eBay auctions.
