It is an option, but RCI limits you to 4 PFD weeks per resort per year. So you can own 5 CMV UDI's, but you can still only deposit 4. They also have other limitations. They have also changed the way the flights are "priced". It is not a flat say 25000 points for a flight. The points now convert to a dollar amt that you apply to the cost of your flight. The days of getting major surplus RCI points from CMV UDI's are long gone.
I am keeping a very tight eye on on my cost per point and my cost per TPU. Plus I rented a couple of weeks which brought my cost per point down. In my case it worked out costwise, but I would consider it only light icing on the cake. The heavy icing is the number of weeks that you can deposit into TPU's, and other exchange companies. To me, if we lived closer and were "woodsy" people the heavy icing would just be the ability to get away to CMV itself for just $65 for a week.
