Concidering buying

So i'm considering buying a bluegreen timeshare off eBay. I also may inherit one and this is primarily the reason I wouldn't buy. (If you inherit do you get all the perks and traveler plus etc.)

A few questions. (assuming I buy eBay)


1. I want the Traveler Plus so I can have all the perks that come with it, ability to switch to shell etc. How do i get this after i buy off eBay
....... a. How easy is it to get into shell properties?
2. The timeshare I'm looking at buying is at Big Cedar it has 20k points split by week 18 one bedroom, week 19 one bedroom, and week 8 one bedroom.
....... a. Are these good times and a good location to have. I have heard this place is hard to get into.
....... b. Where would I get a map of Big Cedar so i know where the unit i would purchase is located?
3. With the Traveler Plus you get access to ICE, how much better are these rates than just using cruise.com?
4. How hard is it to trade into RCI, are the RCI resort good quality, what is the cost to trade in, how easy is it to use the 3000 point RCI getaway that comes with Traveler plus.

AFAIK you cannot get Traveller’s Plus as a separate entity, and it does not come with resale purchases on eBay. You must purchase through an authorized reseller (Boca bum on this board can help with that) and there is a specific price point at which it comes included. I know that if your membership lapses it costs something like $1500 to get in, so you could contact BG to see if that is an option. If you get this from a family member however, I believe the TP does transfer as well but verify this with BG first.

Shell properties can be had relatively easy but again, this depends on the resort and season. Keep in mind, less than 7 day reservations can only be made 90 days out which makes it slightly more difficult unless you are making full week reservations.

This is a desirable resort, but there are specific types (cabins mainly) which are desirable and I would say these weeks are a little early in the year to be top selection. OTOH RCI lists this as a Red Week so others may disagree. I am not really familiar with the area, but perhaps someone else can provide where you can get a map.

I am not aware of any access to ICE, however you will find that the rates are higher than if you use cruise.com or booking directly through the cruise line.

There is no easy answer to this one. Some RCI are good quality and some are not, and a lot of the time what is available are the less desirable unless you put in an ongoing search. BG uses a crossover grid so depending on season, resort, and location will determine the cost and ease. Note however that exchange fees can be considerably high, and in most cases booking using BG point’s reservations cost more than if you have a separate RCI account.

Which system you get into depends entirely on where you want to travel. The rankings you are probably referring to are based ONLY on quality. You need to consider where the resorts are located, the number of resorts, etc.

sweet thank you for the detailed reply. I called bluegreen and my grandparents TP and Silver status will transfer to me. They said as long as it is an in family transfer these things transfer easily. So I will not buy on eBay i will wait until they are done using it and inherit theirs.

You don't need to wait for a inherit, see if they will transfer ownership now, if they are not using it fully.
