Gov't report: More fees, less choice ahead for passengers as airline industry trends

Well, that is the expected result when government allows these airline mergers. Less competition is never a good thing for consumers.

I am just waiting for Ryan Air to come through with their plan to expand into the US, and to TATL service. Their current attempt to buy Aer Lingus is probably their play to get into the latter. Ryan will show SWA what a REAL LCC prices look like and they will blow the doors off of fares for all US carriers.

I can't wait to see this. Fares are going up and up. Southwest is turning into a major disappointment for us. How I long for those great sales of theirs.

Having just paid $282RT from Newark to Nashville ( a smidge under what I typically pay for my trans-con flights) I would have to say that things are already bad. Of course I just passed a few NY gas stations where regular was $4.29 & $4.34. There is no cheap alternative.
