My Myrtle beach whirlwind trip 9/13 -9/16
At the last minute Kelli called me Wed night and said she traded shifts so got off at 4pm on Thurs so deceided to pick her up & head to the beach!! I looked for a last minute hotel deal & found a 3 star (not named) for $46/$52 with tax. Much to my amazement after I hit buy I found out I got Westgate. I was unaware that they had a hotel beside the ts towers. Got in late (got lost) I knew where it was but it was dark & missed the road & almost ended up in Murrills Inlet. Inquired about ocean front but they wanted $30 more so since I was checking out at noon deceided not to go for it. The mgr walked by and said give it to her anyway. Woo Hoo!! Shut off the ac , opened the patio door , hit the bed & fell asleep while listening to the ocean. OMG!! I awoke as the sun was coming up & went out on the balcony to see my first ever sunrise. Looked around & it seemed like everyone was doing the same as me. Still tired I went back to bed. Got up , refreshed, & headed to the beach. Glorious sun, beautiful weather.
It is now Friday afternoon so checked out & headed to Mr Fish. It was written up in Southen Living magazine but as most of you know, I was raving about it b4 they found it!!. Headed to Sea Watch/Wyndham. Room wasn't quite ready but they called me on my cell as soon as it was.
I asked to be close to an elevator & near the activities and my room couldn't have been better (except it wasn't ocean front. ) After a full day in the sun we headed to NMB / Main St for pizza at Georges & also it was the start of SOS ( Society of Stranders/Shaggers or as I like to call it sluts over sixty) Kelli went walking while waiting for supper and she came back and said "Mom, there's a guy next door who used to play basketball for Carolina. He's signing shirts & taking pics." Who is it, I asked? Never heard of him but his name is Phil FOrd. I almost spit out my coke. My reactioin told Kelli he was somebody big. As soon as we ate we went over to get his autograph, bought his shirt which he autographed & took pics. He really was nice & personable and was promoting a weight loss product. I wanted to go for the breakfast meeting on Sun. but was scared I would be running late getting home. I loved listening to the beach music and people watching that night. Wonderful day.
Sat found me sitting on the beach, reading a book. Can you say heaven? Kelli went walking and came back with a Cowboys beach towel. For lunch we headed to Hamburger Joes' and then back to the beach. That night we headed to the Wynonna concert at the Alabama Theater. It started at 7 and was done at 8:10. I've seen her dozens of time but will have to say this was the worst. It was mostly slow songs , sad & melancolly. She just wasn't in to it. Her husband of 2 mos had been in a motorcycle wreck about 3 weeks prior and lost his leg & messed up his hand. He was the drummer in her band. I think she came back on the road to soon.
Sun, headed back home. We had another concert to go to. Charlie Daniels , opening act was Little River Band. Now that was a concert!!! I was glad to be home and see Monkey & Mater . Slept till noon the next day as I was past exhausted.
Next trip: ABQ / Santa Fe/ Hot Air Balloon Festival.
Happy travel's y'all!! Shaggy
Glad to hear the trip went well other than the concert. I think you are right that she came back on the road too soon. Her heart must be int two places - at home with him and not wanting to disappoint fans - which is sounds like she did anyway.
Glad Charlie made up for it. Can you imagine if you saw Charlie first, then Wynonna?
Wow Shaggy, no mishaps. You're slacking.
Glad you had a great time. Sounds like the beach gods were shining on you this trip.
Shaggy, I'm glad you and Kelli had such a good time, but then, you do wherever you go!
Hobbitt, please do a trip report!! We'd all love to hear about it plus you'll get to relive your trip!! shaggy
