Madrid
I stayed here last spring and I would point out that, while it is located in a quiet neighborhood, there is a pretty rough neighborhood to the east of the unit. There are three subway stops you can take, and two are recommended - one takes you through an area you would want to avoid at night. Here are some excerpts from my review on tug.
Three subway stops are nearby – Nuevo Ministerios, Cuatro Caminos, and Alvarado. Alvarado may be one block or so closer, but the route walking to the hotel takes you through a rather seedy neighborhood. NM or CC drop you on nice, pretty, wide boulevards and the walk takes you through the shopping area and business district in the area.Banks and ATMs abound in the area, as do fast food places and grocery stores. There is a “Business Center” nearby with cheap internet access, copy, and fax service.
Nuevo Ministerios can be reached without at transfer directly from the airport. It might be a half kilometer walk to the hotel, but it is a very easy and safe walk.
