Ocean Club at Atlantic Beach - ATN -Westerly, RI

Anyone been? Reviews seem mixed but bad ones focus on the presentation -- is it a real dump? I just booked a short stay there this weekend for XH - too late to cancel, but prep me if it's awful... the Westerly, RI location was perfect for them - they only have two nights so can do Mystic on the way up and then another daytrip to do the Newport holiday mansions on Sunday -

Any info on things to do/restaurants in Westerly also helpful. Thanks!

Well they just checked in and said the room is fine, so I'm not going to worry about it...

You would have heard about it if it was not

So this short stay thing worked, huh. I have a week that is going to expire 3/6 in II - maybe I should use it for a short stay???

I think you have to be "Gold" to use short stay? Not sure, but I was accidentally charged for Gold, and meant to cancel, but II was being a pain and I didn't have the energy to deal with it.

Anyway - I think it's great if you want to use it for very last minute or off-season stuff. For instance, there are some nights at Water's Edge in CT end of January. Not a time I'd want to be on the beach, but the place is supposed to be very nice, and probably only good for a few nights...

Mind you -- the week I booked, and most SSs, are available as cheap getaways, too. So I opted for the SS b/c it was only $140 out of pocket, instead of paying $300 for the whole week. But if you take half my MF plus the Exchange fee, it's probably a wash or I paid a little more in the end... Also, I used a week that doesn't do great things for me generally, so this seemed a worthwhile way to use it.
