PNC (NYSE: PNC) is the first major bank to provide a service that allows customers to send money securely on-line without having to share checking account and routing information. Developed in conjunction with CashEdge, Inc., a leading provider of money transfer capabilities, the service is free for all PNC customers and available as part of PNC’s online banking system.

POPmoney is a person-to-person (P2P) electronic payments service offered by banks that allows their customers to easily send secure email and mobile payments to anyone. POPmoney sends payments directly from the sender's bank account and deposits them directly into the recipient's bank account, eliminating the need for paper checks and bank visits.

Anyone bank with PNC plan on using their new P2P service?

We have one of our accounts here. I don't remember seeing anything about this. If it's as secure as they say, it sounds like it would be a much safer option than online bill paying. Even though everyone says online banking is safe, I haven't gone that route yet. Too afraid of losing my hard earned money to someone who snags my account info.
