Marriott reservation eventual banked with II

before I make a Marriott reservation, do i have to pay the 2009 annual dues in advance

can I make a Marriott reservation with my two bedroom lock off
as a dedicated two bedroom reservation

then lock it off with interval
turning it later into
one bedroom
+
studio
so I have the one bedroom working for me and the studio working for me with Interval MArriott
later
when I deposit with Interval Marriott
or
do I have to make my original Marriott Reservation as
two bedroom lock off reservation
not a dedicated two bedroom reseration
to have this flexibility

No. You do not have to pay fees before they are billed. You can deposit your week as soon as it is available within your season.

You can reserve whatever you want - 2BR or 1 BR plus lock-off. Once you have deposited it/them with II, it cannot be changed, nor occupied by you. Depositing has a lot of finality to it. Do not deposit your week until you are sure of what you want to do, and that includes the size of unit you want to obtain as an exchange.

All trades are handled thru II. Marriott does not currently handle trades.

A quick reminder; reserve whatever week(s) and make the deposit with II yourself. An open ended request to Marriott to reserve and deposit a week can result in something less than the most desirable week being reserved and deposited on your behalf.

I just purchased a Shadow Ridge Platinum EOY (well, purchased in JUNE but still not in my name). I called Marriott twice already and they say 120 days is routine to get my name on the unit. Sigh. The previous owner reserved 2 one bedrooms for March 2009 for me already.

Once my name is finally on the ownership, can I deposit those very weeks into my II acct? Am I in trouble since March is only 5 months away?? I would like to trade to NCV for 2010 but I am worried about the timing. This closing has dragged on way too long and I don't know what to do but wait.

Thanks and any advice would be appreciated. Katherine

They CAN'T make that resie for you - it is a studio and a 1BR I believe you mentioned to me that they did the 2 separate resies because there was none left for a 2BR with a March check-in.

Yes, it can be a problem - because you get the maximum trade power at 12 month out deposit which decreases at 10 months then 8 months then 6 months then 4 months - you get the picture. And in terms of trading into Newport Coast - although you will have the Marriott preference - you have two points against you - using a 1BR to request a VERY popular 2BR only resort and a late deposit .
Back in June, the closing time with Marriott was 4-6 weeks - and since u r at the 4 month mark, I think there could be a problem.

Call them Monday.....

NO - YOU CALL MARRIOTT, PAY $75 AND LOCK IT OFF WITH THEM -
KEEP IN MIND THAT AT SOME RESORTS THEy HAVE 2br dedicated units AND IF ALL THE LOCK-OFFS ARE GONE - YOU CAN NOT CHANGE TO A LOCK-OFF RESERVATIONturning it later into
one bedroom YES
+
studio YES
so I have the one bedroom working for me and the studio working for me with Interval Marriott
INTERVAL AND MARRIOTT ARE TWO SEPARATE COMPANIES
later
when I deposit with Interval NOT Marriott

two bedroom lock off reservation

AS STATED ABOVE - THERE IS A CHANCE THAT THERE WILL NOT BE ANY LOCK-OFF RESERVATIONS AVAILABLE.
AT A RESORT SUCH AS BEACHPLACE TOWERS WHERE ALL UNITS ARE 2BR LOCK-OFFS, IT IS NOT A PROBLEM.
AT GRANDE VISTA, IT COULD BE A PROBLEM

AND AS STATED ABOVE, BE SURE TO MAKE A RESERVATION - DO NOT LEAVE IT UP TO MARRIOTT TO CHOOSE A WEEK FOR YOU.
