Fees

Do you have to pay fees when you book your vacation with Marriot? I'm just wondering what kind of fees come along with the vacation plan. For example you have maintance fees. What other fees?
Thanks

marriott timeshare

I have another question! The Marriott is offering extras when you buy(a stay in the ritz-carlton). what are the BIG differences between a resale and buying directly from the marriott?( aside from price!) can i purchase in new jersey and exchange to st. thomas?

If you are going to occupy your whole unit at your home resort there are no additional fees.

If you want to split your lock=off unit and have two separate reservations, there is a $75 lock-off fee.

If you want to exchange your week in Interval International, you must pay a yearly membership fee to II plus an exchange fee - Mar to Mar is $109

A stay at the Ritz carlton is considered a purchase incentive to get you to buy from Marriott. At the time I purchased, my incentive was points which were enough to stay 7 nights at any Marriott in the world plus 120K FF miles.

Currently, the ONLY difference between buying from Marriott and buying resale is the ability to exchange your unit usually every other year for marriott points.
I own a 2BR Platinum week in Aruba that can be locked off giving me 7 nights in a studo and 7 nights in a 1BR = 14 nights. If i traded in my week (or 14 nights) I would get 90K marriott reward points which gives me 3 nights in a category 7 or 8 hotel.

As u can see, it is a no brainer that saving $10,000+ buying resale is the way to go.

Remember that this could change at any time, but u still have your TS week to se as u please.

edit - technically a 2BR platinum week in NJ if reserved weeks 24-34 will allow u to exchange into St Thomas weeks 1-14....one of our members does see these weeks.
But in order to be a successful exchanger u need to reserve at the 12 month mark, deposit your week with II and put in your request 12-14 weeks ahead for best results.
