Can I be the first to ask you a question? We own at Sedona Springs (2 bd) which is a gold crown with RCI, accepted by SFX but not a 5 star with II. Any idea why?

I have to be really careful about answering questions specifically related to my former employer. Having said that, if I were you, my first step would be to contact the developer/HOA to determine if they asked for the status. If they did and were denied, it is likely they would have been given the reasoning behind the denial.

My Whistler resort is exactly the same, RCI gold, SFX OK and not 5* with II. I could not find out why.

I meant for you to ask your resort as the information wouldn't be available to anyone you could speak to at I.I.

The resort must first ask for the designation. Once it has taken that step, any denial would be provided with guidance on how to attain the status. Many resorts that have been turned over to an HOA don't have a compelling reason to pursue the designation.

In any case, not speaking about I.I., I personally doubt any exchange company uses a designation as part of their matching process.
