rescinding and nervous
Signed the papers in Myrtle Beach 5/4, sent recind letter 5/6 from North Carolina, certified and return receipt. They have not picked it up yet. Do they have a way of avoiding these recind letters? I am getting nervous. Should I send another letter?

How many days is Carolina's rescind period? I know in Florida it's 10 days. I have in the past helped people get out their contracts by also emailing the agent and every department that we could find an email address for and copying yourself and using the email also as back up proof. Hope this helps.

I live in West Virginia which has 10 days, so I am OK there. Just a little worried. It was Wyndham and the letter went to Las Veges. I should hear something soon I think.
Thanks for the advice!!

You are okay. The postmark date and time will dictate the time of cancellation, providing you sent your cancellation letter to a proper address for the company you purchased from. Remember to also send back the owner bag you received at closing. The company may charge you extra for the materials. I know Westgate will charge you $200. And don't worry if they don't pick up the cancel letter from the post office. Your postal receipt is your evidence.
Now from the other side of the coin. Stop going to timeshare presentations if you have no desire to own a timeshare. You can cause a lot of problems for the representative you dealt with including termination. Some reps are honest and caring, some are liars and cheats. When all reps are lumped into the same category, it's the good ones that get hurt the most. Good luck.

Recission period has nothing to do with where you live and everything to do with where you bought. You'll be fine as long as you followed the instructions to the letter and kept the certified receipt.
You obviously liked something about timeshare but made the right move by rescinding in time. Good for you!
Now think about what would serve you best. Read up on the various timeshare ownerships, ask questions and buy resale once you have all the data.

Crasyone, you are far from crazy. You have done what some of us have done too some time or other but you did your research and that paid off for you.
Keep remembering from now on that it is very easy to buy a timeshare but it is a lot harder to sell them and don't even talk about re-sale value. There isn't any today or very little.
Do a lot of research. It would be a good idea to buy where you like to visit often and not too far away from home so getting there isn't so expensive when gas or airfares go way up again.

Wow, what ruthless companies. I think it's great that folks go to presentations, sign contracts, and rescind. I wish more folks would do exactly that. Maybe then the way they're sold would change.
