The native language of the author inquiring about your property is not English. If they really were a MD serving in the US Military, I believe their English would be better. I think they said they were a MD to impress you.

It sounds very, very similar to emails I have received for items I posted on craigslist classifieds: jobs, housing, personals, for sale, services, community, events, forums - I got emails written in broken english asking me to FedEx bulky/heavy low value items on a COD basis. I generally ignore these type of emails.

If he were really an MD and really in the Gulf with the Marines, he would be a Naval Officer and wouldn't be pussy footing around just calling himself an MD.

PayPal works best, just send the $1600 to my email address, then we don't have to worry about losing snail mail. Best of luck, go wadi bashing if you get to Oman.

Spence,

I am curious if your prospect turned out to be a flake or you got some rent money.

I'm so fed up with flakes. Other pet peeves is people who want 10 days with no comprehension that I will use up 14 days to reserve their 10. And they tell me they purchased their air fare right away for the 10 days because they could get great prices. If they had never been to a resort I might understand. But since most check in days are Friday/Saturday/Sunday and sometimes Monday at our Mexican resorts, people who email that they need to begin on a Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday because that was the ONLY days for their less expensive flights. BUT they don't want to use a hotel for 3 days then use a TS week.

Another man emailed two weeks ago wanting a 27 Dec - 3 Jan reservation. I thought "Great!" because that resort told me a few weeks ago we have to use TWELVE accumulated weeks before 12/31/2008 because the new owner will no longer allow accumulated weeks. This man is Mexican American and insisted on notification in writing from the resort that his name was on the confirmed reservation. Being listed as our 'guest' was not good enough. For two weeks I tried to get the Reservations Manager to respond via email and ccd the prospect. I called countless times. Often when I ask for Reservation Manager by name she says she is not there. Then when I ask to leave a message she says "Oh I am X" as she is playing games or avoiding some callers.

When I finally get her on the phone today, I receive a email from the prospect that he couldn't wait any longer and booked elsewhere. Then the Reservation Manager emailed him what she should have done two weeks ago.

I was sooooooooooooo angry at the loss of my time!

Of course they never responded when I pushed PayPal, this was an obvious scam from the start.

Sorry you're having so much trouble with your timeshare and its reservation people.

Quote:

Dr Jeremy Jass.
why do they think being a Dr. will impress me?

It's normally a Sat-Sat rental, as advertised. 24-30Nov is 6nights? if you meant 24Nov-1Dec, that's Mon-Mon 7nights. It is available for that holiday period for $2100 + $500 security deposit.
a very quick reply to a not cheap rental yields exactly what I expected.
Quote:
Thanks for your prompt response.I have discussed this with my Wife about this and we have agreed to use your place and as for the cost, we are alright with it. My Wife's employers will be the one responsible for all our our vacation expenses as a wedding gift and they have promised to send you a certified check as soon as you have penned these dates down for us. Kindly email me your full name, physical address, home and cell phone number so that the payment can be mailed out to you soon.
Waiting to read from you.Have a great week ahead.
Regards
Dr. Jass

I will reserve on receipt of funds. You may PayPal the funds to my email address or have your employer do that, their promised certified check can be used to pay PayPal.
Regards,
hmmmm, no quick response

Good ol' Dr. Jass wrote to me on 9/13/08 using the exact same initial email but when I asked him what dates he needed he said :

"If our payment is made, then we will know the dates and time." ... HUH???

He went on to say "but it should be between 17-25 of sept." If he rents both our places that's going to be one loooooong honeymoon!!

But, I doubt that I will hear from him again since I refused to take the certified check from his wife's employer and insisted payment be made through PayPal. Silly me, until I read your post I still had hopes that this guy was on the level and went to great lengths explaining to him why PayPal was a great option and how it would protect him..... sheeesh.

I've received so many of those junk emails. They are all fraud. I hope that people won't fall for that and get scammed out of money. I ONLY use PAYPAL. I even eat the credit card fees as to not deal with the hassle of checks. It's just not worth it.

I'm in the process of corresponding (using a fake name and unidentified email) with a gentleman who wants to buy my timeshare...the Kansas one on the beach that is still close to skiing.

He is ok with the price of $55,000 and his business associates will be sending me a certified check for $128,000.

I just know all sorts of terrible things are going to happen as I try to cash the check and send him the balance. I am already quite sad that he will not be enjoying sitting under the palm trees on the Kansas beach.
