Seeking advice on a timeshare membership

Okay, well that makes some sense. I didn't understand why I was getting "defensive" responses while just asking for some feedback.

I hate to disagree but.

I am not a time-share owner so I don't know a lot about time shares.

I am a member of a timeshare/travel membership as described and questioned. I paid the 3k to join. I went to the afore mentioned site condodirect.com searching what they have available vs what I can get with my membership I found I have far more available to me than that site has. There is no comparison.

I have personally spoken with the owner of the company whose membership I own. He explained to me where these units come from and they are not left-overs. This company buys up lots of time at different locations worldwide. Naturally, because they are buying in bulk the rates are good. We have 5000 locations in over 55 countries to choose from worldwide. I believe there are 2 million units available at any given time. I could be incorrect here but if someone wants clarification, I can verify this.

I can book as much as 1 year in advance. I hardly call that left overs. I have also searched for locations two to four weeks out and found nothing available anywhere for a given location, but with my membership, I was able to find accommodations for just 298 for that week. The accommodations were top notch. The resort was 5 star.

Time-share owners are limited to the amount of time they can travel in a given year. I can use my membership an unlimited amount of times. I have no annual fees, no maint. fees, no black out dates, no insane up front cost like time-shares are notorious for. In addition, I can stay in the exact same locations for a fraction of the cost. I also get three vouchers a year to hand down to my family and friends.

It was a no brainer to me. Add in the ability to earn some commission by sharing this with my family and friends. I don’t see how one could not see the value.

If all belong to that company, than that will be the bigest company in the world. In fact, total RCI plus II has less unit, much less units than this company. And they have less location than this unit. It will have size bigger than Wyndham, Marriott, Hilton.

Alas, last I look at their website, it is no more than someone fancy they can sell their "make money from xxx idea". So they don't own that.

5000 location probably mean 5000 resorts. That is about the same resorts you add II + RCI claim they have and that has over hundred resorts dual affliated.

So they are signed with RCI and II and sell their last min. inventory Guest Certification to you.

By the way, if you signed up to be their distributer, please make it clear yourselves. If not, I am sorry to doubt you.

What is this company you are advertising here on TUG? This is very fishy, as Jya Ning suggested. You are saying this organization is as big as RCI, the biggest company for exchanging?

I know Vacation Solutions, one of the postcard companies, provides a site for owners to "rent" weeks, but those are weeks they stole from people. I really hate the postcard companies that say they provide a "vacation club" as a trade for the timeshare + $2,500-$3,500!

rfranta is simply spouting the same rhetoric that is spouted by the sales people when they are trying to seperate you from your hard earned money. If he/she really believes what they are writing I can only assume they also believe in the tooth fairy.
Paying 3k upfront in the hope of getting cheap accommodation doesn't sound like a good investment to me. I actually went to a similar presentation and challenged them to match a holiday that I had already booked. They had to admit that they couldn't come close to the prices I had obtained for myself simply by using sites already freely available to anybody with internet access.
Bottom line from my viewpoint is :- Don't touch them with a 10 foot pole.

Please be very wary of this. Ask them a ton of questions, like, can I see the deeds? How many unit weeks are owned in Resort X? PROVE IT TO ME! Deeds prove it. Deeds get recorded so if they falsify you could certainly find that out.

I don't know what your travel plans are, but check the other sites mentioned for times and places you might consider and see what a week costs in today's dollars. While I personally don't believe that cheap rentals to the public will continue forever, right now is a good time to rent instead of own. You may very well find that there is no reason to commit to owning anything.

Of course, this whole thing has given me an idea: The Dog Weeks Exchange - I can go buy up all the unloved weeks on eBay and rent them out for a margin above my average maint. Gimmee money or gimmee a week and you can take a week. One for one, no trading power or VEP or 1-in-4 blather. I can market it overseas as "Off Season Delight!"

Global is not an exchange. The company buys up time at resorts and resells it to its members at a low rate. They do not own any property at all. I signed up to both travel and make some extra money. I have already made my investment back and then some.

I am very happy with my decision and would do it again in a minute.

Keith you know little about what you are talking about here. How much is a timeshare upfront?

Who is seperating who from their hard earned money. If you want some comps I will be happy to share them with anyone simply send me a pm.

Trust me our rates are very good. Try and make a $1,000 commission from the freely available sites on the net.

Board Girl, Global does not own property. We have no deeds nor do we claim to. We buy blocks of time from resorts and timeshares around the world. We buy up a lot of time and get it at a very low rate. Then we resell the time to the members at a low rate.

With Global there are no monthly, annual, or maint fees. Just a one time fee up front. We can travel 52 weeks a year if we wanted to. The most we will pay worldwide for 7 nights is 699.
