Abreviations
Is there somewhere on this site that has a list of all the abreviations that everyone here uses? Hate to sound stupid but it makes reading the posts and getting useable information hard....
Top of todays list-- What is FF

Abreviations
For me FF = Fairfield OR Frequent Flier (miles)
And, yes, it is confusing to figure out all of the initials! I'm still working on those.
DH, DW,DD,DS,SIL, BIL MIL,FIL = Dear hubby, dear wife, dear daughter, dear son, sister in law, brother in law, mother in law, father in law
Then we get to the people who are flying in or out of: ORD, RSW KYW and other places using only the airport code (O'Hare; Ft. Myers; Key West are for the 3 above).
Then there are the resort initials....well, I won't even try for those.
I guess who ever is writing ASSUMES we all know what all those initials stand for ...... WRONG...so I just skip over the ones I can't figure out. So you are not alone in wondering about this, nor are you stupid!

I thought that there used to be a thread with a list of abbreviations floating around over on TUG but I can't find it, so maybe it was just a bunch of threads that talked about various abbreviations.
I know that on the Fairfield Yahoo Group there is a file with abbreviations but I just checked that and it is particular to the Fairfield system.
Maybe we can start a list and put it up as a sticky on one of the forums.

Great Idea. Now any body want to take the job on or should everyone just post on it. I think IMO one person should handle it and keep it in alpha order.

Frank, I would be willing to take it on, but not sure exactly how to go about it.
If we should have folks post their contributions and I could put them together in one place repost sticky when updated or have folks email their contributions or what. Would guess we would get more participation if people just posted somewhere and then consolodated those post.
Don't think that it would be that big a task and maybe it would help some folks out. The abbreviations are a challenge sometimes.

Ok Ken thank you. Yes we can put a sticky some where and I guess this thread is a good place to start posting them. Not sure if we should have a seperate spot for airport codes or citys or even resorts. This can get huge.
Anyway as allready posted FF has 2 meanings
FF = Fairfield = www.fairfieldresorts.com OR Frequent Flier (miles)
RCI= Resort Condominiums International = www.rci.com
II= Interval International = www.intervalworld.com
DAE = Dial an exchange = www.daelive.com
SFX = San Francisco exchange = www.sfx-resorts.com
TP = Trading places = www.tradingplaces.com/
HTSE= Hawaii timeshare exchange = www.htse.net
VRI = Vacation resort internatinoal = www.vriresorts.com
HGVC = Hilton grand vacations club = www.hgvc.com
I know there's a ton more but its a start for now.
Edited to add:
IMO = In my opinion
BS = Bull $hit
LOL = laugh out loud
LC = Last Call

Frank, you are right it could get big, if there is interest, but, here is my suggestion:
We put out one post asking folks to contribute there knowledge of abbreviations, with some guides as to what we are looking for (for now I would keep it with TS abbreviations (including resorts I guess) and general forum/BBS/IM abbreviations). When there are some posted I will compile, alphabetize and put out a new post with all the ones we have so far and erase my last compiled post. Who can do a sticky, don't want to make this complicated?
Too bad there isn't a files section, we could just put a file there.
Anyway, that's the best I can come up with for now, like I said don't want to turn this in to big deal.
Ken
