Tiny red bugs, clover mites?

My patio and outdoor furniture is covered in tiny red bugs that my initial research (googling "tiny red bugs") tells me may be clover mites. We've never had them before, I'm not certain why now. But they crawl on all the furniture and make sitting/eating outside uncomfortable. I don't think they bite (at least not if they are really clover mites), but still they are icky (and squishing or wiping them away leaves red stains).

Any ideas about how to get rid of them? Or how long they'll stick around?

Further research is giving me the ickies. Can you call in the pros?

I have the ickies just from looking at them. I can't sit outside. I'd rather not have to pay an exterminator, but I can ask my lawn guys I guess...

I read a few of them, including hunting around on an organic-gardening site, where even they said chemicals were the way to go. Eye-opening! Not in a good way.

This site is pretty calm and one person is using an Ortho spray outside.

They might just be red spider mites. I'm trying to think which repellant is best.

Thanks for all your research, Wacky. Looks like I'm lucky not to have them inside. Yet. ICK ICK ICK. I miss my city apartment.
