Thanks, we loved the Sea World one in a 3BR a few years ago. My problem is I have to find something as an extra vacation b/c I need to save my week for our DVC trip later that year. I know I can find 2 2BR Marriotts on II Getaways, but they all say they want "one villa" if possible...Do you think a 3BR at HGVC is possible on Extra Vacations in early May 2010?

If it was going to be there, I'd think it would be there by now---HGVC has already deposited through mid-June 2010.

But, again---don't limit yourself to what's in RCI. A rental from someone who owns one of these could be a really good deal.

Have you considered the Houses of Summer Bay (RCI #6884)?

It is a 3 bedroom house sleeping 8 with private pool (some with jacuzzis) and garage.

My husband stayed in a 3 bedroom at OLCC North Village with his golf buddies. He was raving about it. He said the unit was huge.

Thanks everyone, right now we are trying to get my husband's family to firm up the dates so we can make a choice.

Since y'all mention bad reviews OY . . . .

Funny, I heard from someone from OY just yesterday, and a certain OLCC owner OY is still giving crap to any dissenter, and still getting away with it.

I am the one who got the biggest reputation OY for ripping OLCC, AKA Holiday Inn Club Vacations @ OL . That came about when we returned from there in January of Ought Four, and I posted what others we met there were saying. Like to Aussie cousins. I did not rip it myself, but got sent to time out for the posting and had to grovel in order to post again, after which every word I said was analyzed by the committee of three, or four. Then, ultimately, by the Head Despot.

My personal opinion is there is nothing wrong with any, I repeat any, 3 bedroom unit at Holiday Inn Vacation Club. They are all virtual clones of each other and if someone blindfolded me and put me in one of them I would not be able to tell you what village I was in without looking outside.

I have posted that many times.

River Island is among the best pools in the area. However, me and mine always opted for the lefthand East Village Pool, to get one of the few hot tubs, plus because it was almost like having a private pool.

The Holiday Inn Vacation Club at OL is HUGE place, the HUGEST single timeshare resort in the world, so, yeah, every week a certain percentage will fall through the cracks, have some problem that does not get resolved. Bugs, a bad cleaning, a unit needing updating, etc. That's just just the way it is.

You have to remember that it is getting to be a rather old resort, among the BIG 3 original Orlando resorts that kicked it all off . . . OLCC, Wastegate and Vistana.

And, yeah, if the wind is from the east, in the East Village you will smell what folks left behind at Disney. You will not want to venture out of your units, especially at night. Well, maybe in one those HAZMAT suits, with ventilation.

For me and mine, golf is a rip there. You can get better golf, with more cordial staff, for a third of the price. Several years ago my nephew bought a lesson, which came with a round of golf. He went with us expecting to have a pre-paid round and they socked him $50 cart fee . . . which he shared with a stranger. So they got $100 for the golldanged cart!!!

If you want BBQ, good luck. I guess there are restaurants you can go to.

Our first TS tour ever was at OL, when there were no villages. We have done five altogether, the last one being our last one as we got the TS Tour Wench From Hell. My inlaws had to endure her with us.

I would not rely on threads OY as they are still biased and policed by the OLCC Cops.

JMHO.

Jim,

The 3-bedroom units in the West Village, North Village, and East Village are exactly the same; the units at River Island are different.

Although the units are exactly the same, the East Village is probably my least favorite. I have never smelled Disney's sewage when staying in the East Village but even OLCC admits it is there (at least some people). People make it sound like it is there all the time, which it isn't but if you are there and you smell it, it is strong enough to ruin your vacation experience from what I understand. I have been disturbed by lawn mowers at 6:30 in the morning which is really annoying.

I don't play golf (we've had this discussion before) but it does appear that OLCC is at the higher end of the scale. I also can't provide a quality comparison to determine whether the higher price is justified or not - I suspect it isn't as OLCC is trying to be too much like Disney (i.e. charge premium prices) - the floats at RI is a perfect example.

I just got through staying at one of the Golf Villas in the West Village. They are not all renovated yet as this unit wasn't but it was fine. Other than the small bathroom and the quaint closest, I like the Golf Villas. But again, we've had this discussion before.

I'm curious. You reported the Aussies had went back to OLCC. Do you know if they had any issues?
