Question very new, need input

I just found this site today and am very grateful for the information that I have found here. I have a Bluegreen timeshare that I must sell and I responded to an ad that sells TS for you. They are asking for $1198.00 up front and said that they will start out listing it for $14,000.00. After what I have read on yours and several other sites, this is not even possible for a biannual 9000 point deeded timeshare. By the way, the company is in Boca Rotan, FL.
Do you agree that I am being scammed?

Before you waste your money you need to read up on selling and learn all you can!

First rule is NEVER use a upfront company because only thing you will get rid of is your money.

You will hear this same story over and over again, NEVER!

These companies get your money and add you to a list that few people ever see!

Many times if you happen to find their office and look at their books it will show thousands of owners from your resort also in there!

These people make money from you and have no reason to sell timeshares. Most times after your money is in their hands you can not even get them on the phone again.

The companies make it sound like they can get top money for your resort so they can charge you more upfront.

Do you really think your timeshare is going to sell for the price they told you!

PHIL

You definitely do not want to pay a company an upfront fee to sell your timeshare. Others will chip in with specific Bluegreen advice, but you are correct to be suspicious.
You may want to search for "how to sell your timeshare" both on this site and others.

Yes.

May I know what is the reason for the selling?

It generally loss most of the value in the selling process.

You may want to watch eBay for the complete price on BG points, or ask in BG forums. That give you possible the lowest bound you can expect if you need to sell it in a hurry.

tug has an advise about selling
How to Sell Your Timeshare - Timeshare Users Group Online Community Forums

It will help you to get a feeling how to sell.

On the other hand, if you just have problem of using it, try to read in the BG forum to see how to use them for your family vacation and / or rent them out as extra income source.

Yes, scamming, big-time. All of these companies will take your money and tell you that they're doing such & such and then you will never hear from them.

Just ask yourself this........"would I sell my house to a realtor who wanted their commission first ? "

There are some reputable brokers out there.

"You can do it. We can help " ! Hang out here with us for a while and we'll give you advice if you'd like.

Welcome.

For 9000 EOY you would be lucky to get $5k out of it. They will not get a buyer at $14k.

Do not go with this plan. You will just be out more $$$.

BG is a good system, these points do have value, just not as much as what that company is telling you.

Thanks to all!

Thank you for your imput... My husband is very ill and cannot travel anymore and we are in our 70's. Since we can not use it and the fees are getting greater each year, it is difficult to justify the expenditure when we are on a fixed income.

I plan to explore this site and glean all I can to find the best way to deal with our timeshare.

From what I have read so far, this is a very caring community!!
