How to deposit week in RCI?
Okay.. I know this sounds really really stupid!
It may be because I'm pushing thru my RCI account before my welcome package game etc..
I just got the resort to fax the recorded deed to VRI and submitted an application to RCI.. they sent me an RCI number, I registered with PIN etc..
so I'm in RCI now. Can see Extra Vacations and Last calls..
I would like to try to start searching for 2010 and deposit my week.
When I go to the 'deposit your week' tab, all I see is this:
You currently have No Weeks available to Deposit.
How the heck do I deposit my week? There's no dropdowns etc..

Call RCI, and explain your ownership (resort, week, BR, etc.), and they will verify it with the resort. Once it's verified, if it's an annual week, then it should be depositable through the web page.

The first time is the most difficult and must be followed up consistantly.
If you have a fixed week things get a little easier. Call your VRI resort ( I hope you got the 3 years for the price of 2 RCI deal for VRI owners? If not when you talk to RCI to deposit insist on that) and tell them that you are depositing your week with RCI and give them the account number. Then call RCI and initiate the deposit.
If it hasn't happened in about 5 calendar days repeat the process. Once you have accomplished the deposit from your resort you shouldn't have to call anyone again; but you probably will.
If you own a float week. You have to call your resort after MFs are paid and get a week assigned and then call RCI to deposit. You will have to do that every year.

Great question - I will be in the same boat real soon.
I however have a float week - which when I purchased sounded like I had the choice of when I used it. However, from what you have said, it sounds like the resort can give you what they want. Is this the case, do they give you what is available? How far in advance do I need to do this?
Again, great question and thanks for asking it. More importantly thanks for the great answers and knowledge being shared.

Wayzer,
I really am lucky with my floats in that I always pay 12 months ahead and call exactly 12 months ahead on the one and 13 months on the other. that is the individual resort window. Have gotten what I have found to be the best traders each year.
It really depends quite a bit on your individual resort/system. Quite a few need to be paid up to 2 years in advance to secure the best week for deposit/rental or use. Some if you wait too long won't have something in your season to give you and it is always best to deposit with RCI at least 12 months out in most cases.
It would help if we knew which resort we were talking about.

Lawren,
Thanks for your quick reply. The TS that I am speaking of is Escapes! To Stonebridge in Reed Springs, Missouri.
I also have a RCI points TS closing shortly as well. I know that I can with my RCI points account do a PFD with my TS @ Stonebridge, however if I would like to do that, then from what you are saying I need to call Stonebridge now for next August (if available) - correct?
The other side of it is - does it matter what week I get if I am going to do a PFD transaction? Do you get higher point conversation if you have a week that is in say the summer months? It of course sounds like a silly questions, but from what I am reading there seems to be often silly answers. ;)
I want to start all of this Timesharing business off on the right foot as I am sure all of us newbies would.
Thanks again.

Wayzer,
First off there are NO SILLY QUESTIONS. Timeshare and RCI are nebulous at best and that is being kind to both. We do prefer that you read up on the basics and then ask questions here particularly on the specific systems but yours are not one of those.
Here is the RCI PFD grid which is a sticky at the top of the RCI forum:
http://www.rci.com/GPN/CDA/Common/pd...idsUpdate1.pdf
Yes your week DOES matter on what you get point wise.
and yes we do have a very bad habit of getting silly here. Particularly me when I am up past my usual bedtime.
On that note, good night.

Some resorts (I don't know VRI, but I used to be able to do this on Dikhololo) would allow you to pay MF an extra year in advance, and then you could reserve that week too.
So, for example, if I still owned Dik, I could have paid both my 2009 and 2010 MF and reserved both those weeks, and deposited them in RCI. This is how you can maximize trading power: depositing a year or more in advance.
With some other resorts (such as my Bluegreen Club ownership), I can't reserve more than 11-12 months out, even if I pay in advance---it's a points-based system, not a fixed week system.
Regards,
sc

With the recent situation on trading power at RCI, why would you want to give them a deposit? There are a number of honest independent exchange companies out there who do not play the RCI rental/points games.

An excellent point. I've had good experience with HTSE and SFX, and would recommend both. I haven't yet availed myself of TPI, DAE, et al.
And for me, I still use RCI because I can generate cheap points. It's nowhere near as good a deal as it was a couple of years ago, but it's still a net win for me. When they kill PFD, I'm gone.
