How to deposit week in RCI?

The only reason why I would like to deposit it with RCI is for the PFD. My original thinking was to get enough points that I could go away on several last minute deals.

Is this not my best option for doing so? Or should I keep it in its weeks form? My reasoning also is that currently I am only a family of 3 and we will not require the 2 bedroom unit as of yet (maybe as our family gross, as I am sure it will if my wife has her way! ).

My Mexican resort automatically transfers points into RCI on my aniversary date each year, but I also can only book up to 10 months ahead with my Points Account. Righ now I get availability until the end of April 2010.

Spoke to Stonebridge and I can book my week 10 months out, so I will try and book for the summer of 2010 in September.

One thing I thought of as I was speaking on the phone with the nice lady was: They have available internal exchanges. Can I book at a internal location that has a higher point value, pay the internal exhange fee and deposit that week for PFD. Of course this only be wise if the points are worth the fee.

Just a thought? What are the rules?
