Wow, so glad you got your week back. I'm waiting at least a few weeks to make a couple deposits too. Just not worth the aggravation, IMO.

I'm following this closely because I need to cancel a confirmation made with a July 2010 week (previously a tiger trader) - which when it goes back into my spacebank, will have its trade power reset.

I'm holding off for now, but hope things normalize soon, so I can get it done before it's at the under 12-months mark.

So I hope folks who deposit will come back to this thread and report back whether trade power on new deposits seems normal/as expected, or less.

Laurie, How recently did you confirm? Is it too late to buy cancellation insurance?

Too late for that, it's a week I confirmed in March. I made alternate (TS exchange) plans, knowing I'd forfeit the fee, but at the time didn't realize trade power could ever get so out-of-whack. So I was prepared for a little trade power reduction, but not for the huge loss that's likely if they don't get this fixed first! grrr...

I called this AM to deposit my new week that should be a tiger. The total units available to exchange online was 2,645.
I bet this was because it was provisional/unconfirmed.

I deposited so, so early last time, probably 14 or 15 months out, and it made absolutely zero difference in my trading power from the time I deposited eight months out.
I had two back-to-back weeks at the same resort, one deposited at 13 the other at 8-9. Before the Recent Unpleasantness, they were exactly the same. Now the "late" deposit is just slightly weaker. So even though it didn't make a differnece before it might now.

same problem today

I tried to deposit my IPV 2010 summer week today. Total available weeks to exchange was 2,903, and the VG couldn't pull anything (literally) outside of 45 day window. So I "undeposited" again. IF this is just because this was an unverified deposit, that would be OK, but she did not say that to me. She gave me the trade power explanation, wasn't very friendly, and did not engage in any problem solving effort. Any suggestions? Should I try to deposit through the IT people or does someone have a "special" VG who can help?

The fact that it's unverified didn't previously make any difference (in my case, of depositing a "tiger" trader) in how much trade power was apparent - they called the deposit "provisional", allowed you to search as normal, and transact as normal. They just wouldn't allow you to print up a confirmation, and they wouldn't mail you one, until the resort verified.

Everything else appeared normal - trade power seen by myself and by VG's, immediately upon deposit.

And when I say "previously", I literally mean about 3 weeks ago...

calgal, your experience sounds like good evidence that assigned trade power is still out-of-whack - because I can't imagine that your week wouldn't continue to have a very high level of trade power.

My update: I called RCI to ask whether trade power was settled down, because I needed to cancel a confirmation. They switched me over to web support, who told me yes, everything except South Africa is fixed. She could also look at my week I wanted to cancel, and could tell me before acting that I might have a bit of trade power loss (as I expected), but loss shouldn't be significant.

I asked if she did cancel and I thought there was a problem, whether I should call back web support, and she said yes.

So she cancelled for me, and we hung up and I searched, and results are more or less as expected given the new trade power limitations/degradations. It's a summer studio unit, previously of tiger status, and now it can still mostly see the resorts it could see previously, EXCEPT way fewer large units. What I believe is there was no or little trade power loss because of the cancellation, but loss because of how they have reset for more like-for-like in unit size, in certain cases (such as DVC, our benchmark. ie - it could *not* see the unit I had just cancelled, even tho I know they have more than 1 of that exact date and size in exchange inventory!)

calgal and wackymother - I would go ahead and deposit now, but call and first get connected with someone in web support now, and if possible keep them on the phone while you check your account for # of units seen.
