Funny, I got a call from an II rep tonight also in regards to my search for a Disney property next summer.

They always try to get you to expand your search and saying how hard it will be to get a Disney resort. Maybe this time the VC is speaking some truth

Actually, with RCI, the best way to get DVC will be to rent it from an RCI rental outlet as a member of the general public.

First, as to the best way to get DVC through Disney, perhaps you should wait until you actually can do more than guess.

There's no reason to believe a good trader won't get DVC through Weeks.

But, there's no need to speculate about something when we can wait and find out the truth.

Regarding moving to dual affiliation, it would be wise to look at some that have in the past to see what can be expected.

Early on Wastegate was one of the pride and joys of RCI, one of the Big 3 . . . Orange Lake, Vistana and Wastegate. We were Wastegate owners under RCI.

Then, in the early 90's, Mr. Sleaze had a hissy-fit with Ms. DeHaan. Now that I think about, since Jon and Christel split up in 1991, she was having problems with her guys.

Anyway, Wastegate became 100% II , so we joined them, too.

Only, we couldn't get squat through II. I suspect most of those RCI Wastegate owners kept doing what they had always done, giving thier stuff to RCI, and it took many years for that to wind down.

So, let's be patient; let's wait and see.

There's a difference between the Westgate analogy and DVC, though---DVC owners do not have individual accounts with II. They have to go through DVC to get to II. So, "doing what they always did" is calling Disney to ask for an exchange, giving Disney the point of control.

I'm not even a DVC owner, and I'm very sad to see DVC switching to RCI. Very, very sad.

I deposited yesterday with II. Does this mean I need to make my reservation for Disney before January 2009. Will Disney just stop appearing on Jan. 2009 foward. How do you all expect this to work?

Not true. That will be way more expensive than using points.

I am just hoping that it is just an addition, so I will think positively . I would love to trade into DVC so that I can add a week to a week I book with my own DVC points. I wonder if my guide will know anything about this or not. Usually I know more about what's going on than she does. Oh well, I'm sure we will hear more after the annual meeting next week.

Most likely......The Disney announcement states that all exchanges through II will be honored till 12/31/08.

Unfortunately, I think that DVC is switching, not just adding RICI. If they were continuing with II, I don't think that they would claim all exchanges will be honored through 12/31/08......12/31/08, seems to be a cut-off date for all exchanges through II.
