Actually Angela has been DREAMING about becoming a RCI Points member - this could be her big chance to come over to the 'dark' side.

Yeah, I thought about doing this once before, but then I heard that Gurney's was having serious issues. That was the end of my incentive. This could be the reason I finally make the move........I like staying at the Boardwalk, when I go to Orlando.

Just as I was thinking of getting out of RCI or tsing all together they put Disney in RCI? Hmmm, I bet I don't get a chance in he-- to get into Disney, just like I can't get Manhatten Club. shaggy

Are we sure it will be points only? I was hoping I might be able to get in using weeks someday. When my kids are old and gray.

So far, nobody knows nothing. On the one hand, Points makes sense---RCI has a vested interest in pushing Points, and DVC doesn't much care who exchanges in, only what their members can get, and what it costs them. On the other hand, DVC might have better leverage on the Weeks side, allowing them to reduce the DVC-points their members must spend to obtain the exchanges they want.

Edited to add: the main advantage of RCI Points, though, is that it is much closer to DVC's nightly-stay model than II was, and that was another source of complaint.

This is really bad news to me given everything I know about RCI...like don't they skim all of the good trades off the top and sell them instead of letting them be exchanged? My resorts both trade in II and RCI, but I haven't really wanted to use RCI but now I may be forced to...

With RCI it will be harder to get into DVC for sure, I do not know what they will do with DVC, but it will not be better.

Yikes

I'm definitely not happy about this decision but this is probably a smart move by DVC.

With II, we had unlimited exchange access
With RCI, DVC they can limit the number of times we can exchange into the DVC resorts (i.e. 1 in 4 Rule)
This might push more folks to buy if they really want to stay onsite on a regular basis and push existing members like myself to buy more DVC points instead of using a cheaper timeshare to exchange in

I just got one of those calls from II about ongoing searches for Disney, the rep said Disney will be dually affilliated and that II was still going to have DVC. I am hoping that it is true, but I am never sure about the VCs
