Diamond Resorts (DRI) is privately owned, so there are no share holders to whom the CEO and others have to provide a profit. Of course, the CEO is the owner, or primary owner of DRI.
Since DRI purchased Sunterra last year there has been a constant upgrading of the timeshare units - better linens, bedding, mattresses, furnishings, etc. One resort, Sedona Summit, had some new construction delayed until DRI could make its input, and the new construction is much finer than the old, which was pretty good to begin with.
Owners of DRI property include:
1. Original owners or re-sale purchasers of individual units.
2. Owners as in #1 above who have put their units into THE Club and get points they trade through THE Club and II, and
3. Owners of points in a trust in THE Club.
The only current way into THE Club is option 3 above.
Let me know if you would like to know more.

What? Do you mean the only current retail way into THE Club is option 3?

Does Diamond need more Florida and South Carolina resorts?
I know the answer is "Diamond does whatever is in its interests" but I don't see how this is.
When they make the sales pitch, wouldn't it be better to say "and we have premier resorts in Cabo, PV, Cancun" than to say "you guys in Georgia now have 30 resorts in driving distance!"
Oh well ...

IMO DRI is in desperate need of Myrtle Beach resorts.

How many of the 100+ resorts listed on the DRI page does DRI actually manage? I see a lot of the VI and Raintree properties listed that are not managed by DRI, and subsequently are not going to be benefiting from the DRI upgrades. How much inventory does DRI really hold in these non-managed properties?

If a person is not currently a member of DRI's THE Club, the only way to join it today that I am aware of is to purchase points in the trust. If the new members also owns a deeded week at a DRI resort he/she should also be able to put that week in THE Club and add points for that deeded week to their THE Club total.

So IF DRI gets BG and adds a couple hundred thousand new owners, where will they be in the DRI system? We they (we-me) be in THE Club, or some other level/rating/category within DRI? If you were a silver or gold member in BG, will you move into a certain level at DRI?

Not without a price! I think this would be a great opportunity for DRI to “upgrade” us BG owners into THE Club by us purchasing some points and giving them a few thousand dollars.
I am a BG owner but also own a week at a sold out resort, which is now an RCI points resort. I will be there this Labor Day week and will probably do another update. I'm sure they will tell me again how worthless my week and/or mini club is and also why I should convert my week and my BG ownership to RCI points all for a mere +/-$3,000. The crazy thing is I might consider it this time. The more people they convince to convert means less inventory is available within the mini club (amazing how they come up with this). This is why others and I have held out.
It seems that developers like to keep us over a barrel. I think this sales method is a way to get some $$ out of us resale purchasers as well.
Does it ever end?

I would think that if you have BG then you would be like the Florida trust unless you want to join club to use the rest of the time shares in DRI.

I think this is true but at the same time I would think that if current DRI club members pay the $$ to access the Bluegreen resorts it will limit availability for current BG owners unless they pay the $$ to DRI to join THE Club.

A BG person would get first choice for BG up until 10 months then the rest would be for the DRI Club and depending how many BG people join DRI Club.
