Computer help/info please.
DD#2 bought DH & me a new Windows 7 computer. She got everything transfered from the old to the new...BUT...I still need to down load SpyBot and AVG (both free, please). (I have Norton for free for 30 days.) Can someone give me their website addresses?
I did download, what I thought was Spy Bot, but when I go 'to fix' selected problems they tell me to purchase. TIA

Norton is probably already installed, go to remove prigrams and remove it once you get whatever AV program installed and running. For AVG (which I use) go to: AVG Free - Download Free Antivirus and Antispyware for Windows 7, Vista and XP
AVG does a pretty good job of removing adware and spyware so I dumped the annoying webroot spyware (which is not free).
Best bet is to be careful where you go and don't ever click on any anti-spyware or virus popup you see. If AVG gives a warning - pay attention.
Most of computer slowdown can be eradicated by an occasional visit to: Clean Up Center - Windows Live OneCare safety scanner
which will clean the registry (just use the cleanup scan regularly and anything else rarely{time constraints}.

Thank you for the website AND anti-virus info. I did finally find the CNET website and got the SPYBOT program I wanted. YES, I am going to remove norton and go back to the AVG free. I had both in the old XP I had and liked both.
I'm still trying to figure 7 out and find things....where is the scheduler so I can set up auto updates...or does this one do it anyway.
You all are great!

I think it does it automatically, but you can schedule the scans by going to the AVG interface.
