Hi Bill,
You are mostly right.
Although the contract does not say that and nobody at the presentation would ever mention this and some people like me were not so familiar with consumer rights.
Even worse, we were sent a letter almost right after signing the contract suggesting that it is very common for people to think that they made a mistake and it encouraged us to just give it time to figure it all out and WAIT.
Also we had no idea how many things were misrepresented to us until we actually tried to use it half a year later. Until then we happily trusted what we were told.
Also a major problem is that we were denied access to the system during the presentation (we specifically asked) and sales reps refused to demo how it works to book a vacation in real life on the real RCI web site. Our RCI membership arrived approximately a month later after we signed the contract - way after the cooling off period ended. Only then, when we logged for the first time, we realized how we were taken for a ride.
Also only when the need did arise, we dealt with customer service and the hotel just to find out that what is available for cash is not available for RCI points. Also only with time instead of 3-4 weeks of stay as promised we discovered that our package is good only for 3 days.
Also way after thecontract was signed we found out about other fees that we were never told.
Only a year later we discovered that our points cannot be accumulated for more than one year, unlike what we were told, and it does not say that in the contract, so cooling off period would not help here either.
These things plus many more were discovered over time, and all of them way after those 10 days, so that cooling off period could not serve the purpose anyway.
The facts that are posted on
www.TimeshareRevealed.com do not say anything about the misrepresentation part, specifically what we were told and what the reality is. This will be presented in the court of law with witnesses and will be posted publically if we win the case or taken to the next level of either appeal or class action if we lose.
I hope i answered your question. If not, feel free to ask.
