Yes, They are willing to hassle you for a penny. I am treasurer of our small HOA, and I have had a couple of owners mail their recent quarterly payments using the non denominated Flag Stamp, which as we all now know is only worth 41 Cents. The Postmaster has been filling out Postage Due notices, and I have to go to the window to pay the penny. What irritates me the most is that I am usually picking up the HOA mail from our PO Box when the window is closed, so I have to go back. By the way, the clerk seemed upset when I gave her a Dollar for the first letter, and she had to make change. I didn't have anything smaller at the time. I haven't had time to go pick up the second letter, but I think I will pay them with a $20 bill when I do.

You are annoying the wrong person, instead have the post office send the letter back fpr insufficient postage- so the real cause of the error gets annoyed.

Some people pay for the privilege of getting hassled.

No, I have the right person. The Postmaster told me that they were supposed to have sent it back automatically because the Post Office where our HOA PO Box is located serves my neighborhood - same ZIP Code. For whatever reason they didn't follow their own rule and send it back.

Actually I am more than accomodating. Instead of a 1-cent stamp I am adding a 3-cent stamp, a supply of which I have left over from a previous rate increase.

The Postal Service is iffy in our neck o the woods. We changed from home delivery to a P O Box back in the Neighborhood Brouhaha of Ought 5. Our little post office and the carriers know that.

But our mail is not sorted here . . . it is is sorted in a bigger hub post office up yonder. That that still has our street address on it still arrives, or at least some of it, with scribbles on it that that is not a good address.

Then, we still get mail for the person who had our PO box before us, and we can tell that we was of different political persuasion.

When my Dad passed away six years ago and my Mom five years ago, I changed their addresses to ours, to handle the final stuff. Some days they do better than me mail-wise. I sorta get a kick when Dad gets a Blue Cross-Blue Shield solicitation since he worked for them for beaucoup years, retiring as a mucky muck, and they paid for his retirees plan, including a very costly last month.

Then, last month Mom got a refund of an overpayment.

The OFs did a pretty good job of hasseling, and didn't charge even a penny. But, "What do I know?"

You may want to keep the 3cent stamps. When the next price increase comes it might be the 41 plus 3. Just a thought!

You know, one-cent stamps are very delightful. You give them a dollar, and they give you five whole sheets of one-cent stamps. You could cover a whole mailing box! You could line a birdcage! You could paper a room!

Acutally that is not correct. Or, OTOH, it is, since their charge was quite a lot more than a penny.

OK, sounds good. I will stop putting the 3 cent stamps on. Could you please let my Postmistress know?
