The Price Per Barrel for Cranberries has hit rock bottom up here. I feel bad for the farmers. Ocean Spray has had them putting in new bogs forever, now the market is flooded, and the price has dropped through the floor. My Boss sold his bogs last summer ~ and he's glad he did. Wouldn't get nearly the price a few months down the road now.
That Notice is actually pretty funny!!

Funny, the price of cranberry juice hasn't dropped here on Long Island.

So they are auctioning them now so that in 3 months when i need those cranberries for my cosmopolitan, I will have to pay more.
I am sorry the farmers are hurting - where else in the USA do they grow them?
Fond memories of driving to the cape with the bogs on either side of the road.

I think they are also grown in Wisconsin, or was it Michigan?

Maine, Michigan, Minnesota, New Jersey, Oregon, Washington, Wisconsin, parts of Eastern Canada, and parts of British Columbia all grow cranberries. Actually, Wisconsin grows over one half of all US cranberries, which Massachusetts second. A small amount are grown in Chile, the Baltic States and Eastern Europe.
Bet this was more than you ever wanted to know about cranberries!

I hope whoever gets all those cranberries turns it into wine.
I had some great cranberry wine last year when I visited the cape.
We can always use more wine.

During one of our first exchanges, to Cape Cod Holiday Estates in 1998, we toured the Ocean Spray plant. I had no idea those things didn't grow on bushes!
