They said. okay it would be ready at 2 today. Went in at 3. a girl, if she was twenty it was a stretch, said oh no that is not ready til tomorrow. We need 24 hours to refill a perscription. She said they could not fill it unless it was an emergency in less than 24 hours. She tried to tell me that no pharmacy will refill a perscription in less than 24 hours. Now this is a store in which there were 4 customers. it is out of the way for us to go there. I told her the Walgreens in Wisconsin always refills within an hour or two. I decided to refill the perscription elsewhere.
I get home, check my email. There is an email from Walgreens that the perscription was ready at 12:15, hours before I got there. This girl refused to give it to me. I called the store to complain, and everyone says, I don't know, who cares, yada, yada , yada. do you want it or not?
What kind of way to run a business!

We use Walgreen's all the time and have never had any trouble. I suspect the problem lies with your particular Walgreen's.

I agree with you John. the pharmacist at this Walgreens has decided not to refill perscriptions without 24 hours wait . I could get a handgun faster.
Now I hear they are handing out $25 gift cards for transferred perscriptions.

Walgreens to Pay $33 Million in Deadly Prescription Mix-Up
Online News
Tuesday, March 02, 2010
BARTOW, Fla.
An appeals court has upheld a decision on behalf of the family of a cancer patient who was given a wrong prescription at a Walgreens pharmacy, had a stroke and died several years later.
Walgreens had appealed the jury's decision. On Feb. 26, the Second District Court of Appeal found the lower court handled the case appropriately and awarded the family $33.3 million.
Beth Hippely was prescribed blood thinner Warfarin in 2002 to treat breast cancer. Court documents say the prescription filled at the pharmacy was 10 times her prescription.
A jury later found the error caused a cerebral hemorrhage resulting in permanent bodily injury, disability and physical pain. She died at 46.
In an e-mail,
a Walgreens spokeswoman said the company couldn't comment on the case.

This is how Safeway works it at my store
When I need a prescription filled I give it to the Pharmacist at about 9am and it is ready for me when I get off at 1:30PM. There has been a few times when it took a second day but she lets me know when I'm turning it in.
We bend over backwards to get it right and on time.
Safeway went on a buying spree several years ago and bought most of the local drug stores and along with them came their Pharmacist which in most cases had been filling local prescriptions for years. Unbelievable the difference it makes having the repoar with seniors.
It makes no sense what Walgreens is doing and all they will do is get rid of business.

My sister had a similar problem with Walgreens. My mother who was 90 at the time went to the ER. she was given a pain medication perscription and sent home. My sister, who works for a living, brought her home, went to a 24 hour pharmacy, and the pharmacist would not fill it til morning, was too busy and spent a lot of time telling her to go with the flow, etc. Meanwhile my mother is in big pain, and my sister has to go to work in the morning after being up most of the night , and has to go late after she picks up the perscription.

We must be lucky...
I think our Walgreens is great - the pharmacist is very helpful and always willing to talk to us. We have never had an issue getting anything filled when we need it. We may just be lucky, but I love Walgreen's - it's so convenient to be able to pick up our prescriptions in other states when we are traveling too.

Our experience with Walgreen's has been the same as yours.

scary part of this is, how can you be sure you got the right scrip in the right dosage? mostly I get things I've never taken before. sometimes doc tells me what it will look like, but generics could look like anything.
I go to CVS but no matter where I get somethign filled, will from now on check my pills to see if what they say "looks right" and if it doesn't, ask about it. take whatever answer, and try to look up the pill I got online.
frightening stuff.
