Marge & Shaggy, thanks, it got a bit hairy, but we made out just fine. There were a lot of homes that got flooded though. I've got a couple of pictures of the National Guard helping evacuate a nearby neighborhood that had waist-deep water inside their homes. They were also keeping out looters.
The water level came within six vertical inches of entering our house and garage before the heavy rain quit. We really thought it was going to come in. We had already moved everything that we could off of the floor onto beds, furniture, counters, and slept on the couches.
Our house got islanded for about a day. Large fish were swimming in water *over the grass* between our house and the neighbor's, in a water channel that connected the pond in back with the street in front. It was weird to see fish swimming in the driveway, and people kayaking down the street....
I started up my car yesterday, and found out it's full of black ants. They must have sought higher ground, and my car parked outside was it!
I referee college soccer games. I had four cancelled game assignments through tomorrow, from Jacksonville down to Melbourne. Due either to weather on the day of the match, or one team could not travel through the storm, or an unplayable field after it had passed.
Our two cats kept moving back and forth between three different doors to look outside while this was going on. My wife said they were looking for a door where it *wasn't* raining and windy!
See ya, Mike
