I think all I've done is mentioned the facts about two incidents. One that happened almost 30 years ago and one that happened recently. There wasn't any tears, no shots of childrens toys in a wrecked car, no law suit's or chest thumping, just two incidents I've personally seen or been a part of.
The news media, on the other hand, was going for an oscar performance. They aren't overplaying the situation. They're adding value to it. I'm not attempting to downplay the situation. I'm just stating what happened. The driver's front drivers side tire came apart and he pulled off the road without wrecking his car. In my instance the same thing happened.
I suppose I could downplay a little more by telling you that the second tire shredded when I had that Mustang Mach I floored to make up time for the first tire coming apart. Fact is I wouldn't be lying either. I have no idea exactly how fast that car was traveling when the second tire blew but it was well over the posted speed limit. However, unlike the pro driver the 17 year old kid didn't flip his car and end up in the grave when the tire flew apart.
If the facts are what's stated, then it's not downplaying. I guess since I failed to mention the speed I was driving when the second tire blew could be considered downplaying if you want to look at it that way.
I am not one to cover up something I know if it's pertinent to the discussion. I have stated my hatered for how the news media drama's up a story and how most of the time they're not worthy of watching. However, in this case I feel I should temper my opinion by stating the two incidents I've either been a part of or witnessed in order to be fair.
