The Marriott has the weather report now on the pages of their resorts. :)

I just saw a news report about how there is so much runoff with the rains that it has affected the feeding grounds for sharks so the sharks are cruising closer to shore for some munchies. A woman who was surfing the North Shore Oahu was just bitten but she is ok.

This can be a tricky time of year to visit Hawaii. About 5-6 years ago hubby and I took a two week trip to north shore of Kauai during last week of March & first week of April (his bday is April 6) We had intense rain & squalls with winds at 45 gusting to 60 the entire week. We would drive the long drive down to the "sunny side", that state park, and even there it was overcast and everybody on the island had towels and beach blankets right up next to each other, it was so crowded. Poipu also got heavy rains most of that week. So imagine us on the north shore of Kauai, with dense fog and rain and winds! The day we checked out of our place, the weather broke and we could actually see that there are mountains towering up alongside the highway up there. We actually couldn't see those mtns for the poor visibility all week!

To summarize...I'd go to Hawaii in summertime if I were you, next time maybe stay clear of Mar/Apr when you're definitely taking your chances.

P.S. Is "Lost" shooting now? Wonder if they had to put production on hold. Hmmm....

I am in Maui right now and have been for the last month of nothing but rain, thunderstorms, and floods.
I am near a gulch and the rains from the mountain have flowed down in torrents and broken through all the way to the ocean. It turns the ocean red and it is recommended not to swim in it.
I have been coming here for 14 years and I have never seen weather like this for such an extended period.
I usually hate to leave but this time I can't wait.

Timbuktu, so sorry to hear this as your vacations sounds like it was completely ruined with all this rain. Was this your first visit? It's normally not that bad in March. What a bummer not being able to swim too!

I just called Kihei in Maui and they told me that it was sunny today. It seems like that Kauai and Oahu have had the worst storms. All we can do is take our ponchos with us and hope for the best as we will be there on Tuesday. I don't know if I should be :) or not?

PS. It was your 14th visit so you will go back again, I hope. :)

I am in Napili near Kapalua. It generally rains more here than Kihei and you know what they say "no rain, no rainbows". It is even too rainy for rainbows.
The weather report for Lahaina is rain for the next seven days but that could mean daily showers.
I just think it has to be over by now and you should see a stretch of warm , sunny weather. Good luck !:)

Got back home on Friday from Spring vacation. Friday we got the hardest rain I have ever seen! The flooding was unbelievable on Oahu...even Kahala Mall shopping center was flooded

But yesterday and today its been sunny and warm. Hopefully the worst is over! We all need to dry out. The bright side is that Oahu is so beautifully green!

Aloha,
Jen
