I have a choice between Inn at Volcano (Garden Suite), and Kilauea Lodge (room with queen bed, they will put futons on the floor for the kids). I could also get a room at the B&B Mountainview (and save $, too), but it would be only 36 hours since arriving into Kona from New York (we fly in on Friday night, and the only room available would be for Sunday night), I'm afraid we'll be too travel-weary for the trip from Kona...

Anyone familiar with these, please help. Steve, I found the Mountainview B&B through your post OY, they have a great setup for us with two rooms sharing a bathroom but I'm just worried about the timing...

TIA,
Avery

ETA: I just found a cottage at the Country Goose for a midweek night for $185, I think that will work, tripadvisor reviews are good...

Hi Avery,

How did this all work out for you? What were the other options you found?

Thanks,

John

We stayed at Aloha Junction B & B in Pele's suite. This is their family sized room. Breakfast was great, and it was nice being right in Volcano Village. Not every place will accept 1 night reservations, but they did.
We had dinner at Kilauea Lodge and it was great. I was hesitant to bring 3 kids in there, but they were very accomodating and it worked out well.

John,

We stayed at the Country Goose, it was great. A few miles (or less) from the park. We had our own house, a 3 bedroom ranch w/full kitchen. Not fancy, but perfectly fine, comfortable, and clean. Definitely someone's home, the cabinets/closets had things in them, etc... The washer/dryer came in handy since we got soaked at VNP. Breakfast was at the owner's house, around the corner, it was scrumptious. The owner actually 'manages' several similar homes in the area, so there are quite a few to choose from.

We ate at Kilauea Lodge, it looked great, I would stay there easily too.
