Question RCI Points - how many weeks can convert to points?

How many weeks can be deposited to RCI Weeks that can then be CONVERTED to RCI points?

The answer might include these factors:
X number of weeks PER RESORT - PER YEAR

RCI VCs have said so many different answers I cannot count. I was told you could deposit an UNLIMITED number of weeks by several people.

My husband accepted and offer to prepay MF for the life of a contract. His contract is for 2 weeks per year. He paid 19 years MF in advance. Theoretically he could use those 38 weeks immediately.

We tried to get 2008 weeks from this resort to deposit for points. They first gave us 2008 reservations. We do NOT want to stay at this resort this year as we have too many other weeks that must be used this year. When I told them I want to DEPOSIT for RCI POINTS, I was told ONLY some units at their small resort are affiliated with RCI. The 2008 reservations couldn't be deposited to RCI. Then they offered to cancel the 2008 reservations and would give us TEN weeks for RCI for 2009. They said they did that for others. The resort rep called RCI directly and was told we'd get a good point value because she gave Nov/Dec 2009 including holiday weeks.

All 10 weeks showed up in RCI weeks. I call RCI points to pay the $26 per week to convert to points. The RCI Points rep said he contacted his supervisor AND a RCI Mayan weeks rep while I was on hold. The RCI Points rep told me he filled out TEN forms to complete the request. I requested and obtained all their names including the LogIn ID for the RCI Points rep. (As a separate issue I have no idea why we have to deal with the RCI Mayan department just because we happen to own Mayan).

Next day, FOUR of the TEN weeks disappeared from the RCI Weeks "Exchange your unit" list. Eventually I received a voicemail from the same RCI Points rep telling me the limit is FOUR weeks per resort per year.

I have since been told that SIX weeks can be deposited per resort per year, another person said UNLIMITED again, another said TWO weeks max.

I want to speak with a RCI Supervisor soon to be sure I have the correct answer. So far this year we have deposited RCI weeks to convert to points for at least six resorts. But the resort where we had 38 weeks is the largest.

THANKS in advance.

Use to be unlimited. I believe they change rule to be 4 total last year.

Thanks Jya-Ning,
When you wrote '4 total' do you mean TOTAL per RCI Points account?

We deposited way more than 4 so far this year, but there is only one we tried to deposit more than 4 Total per resort per year.

I hope I can get the other 6 weeks for 2009 removed as deposits, then hopefully get 4 2008 weeks deposited. The resort told me only a PORTION of their inventory is RCI. The reservations they made for us for 2008 couldn't be banked with RCI.

I hope the '4' number doesn't decrease, because we want to use a lot of points and even if we keep the 6 RCI 2009 weeks, we still have 28 weeks at the resort. It would take 6 1/2 years to deposit them to RCI Points.

The number is 4 per resort per RCI Points account. You can have more than 1 RCI Points account as well

How do I figure out the cheapest way to have a 2nd RCI points account? Does it require converting a RCI week contract to a RCI point contract? That is how we got our first RCI point account.

THANKS in advance for any advice.

You could convert a week from weeks to points, but that would likely cost you $3000 because you'd be going to a points developer. The better way would be to buy a small points contract that's already been converted. You could go to ebay and buy a Rayburn County, Grandview at Las Vegas or Cliffs at Peace Canyon converted unit for less than $1500. There is also a TS4Ms member that has a leased points week advertised that a few people have purchased for a pretty good price as well.

That would be my suggestion
