RCI Points transfer fee eliminated

I just got an email from RCI Points:

"RCI Points Transfer Fee: Completely Eliminated!
You will no longer be charged $49 USD to transfer RCI Points to other members."

I have 53,000 RCI Points expiring 11/30/2008.

What sort of value would they have?

Where would one list them?

One woman's opinion.

53k RCI points is probably worth about $750. HOWEVER they are expiring in 6 months and you will have to discount for that fact. Someone would have to take at least one and probably two vacations in that timeframe.

I'd take them but couldn't possibly book anything more in that timeframe without losing my job and ending up in divorce court.

List them in Want to Sell classified section here on TS4Ms.

I'm pretty sure RCI does not allow you to rent your points, at least officially. They may look the other way but you probably need to exercise caution.

I tend to them of them as being worth about a penny a point, but I guess I'm cheap (at least when it comes to timeshares. )

Lawren, are you counting the purchase price of the timeshare when coming up with the .015 figure, or just MFs?

I know the "rule" used to be that MF per RCI point should be 1 cent or less, but of course, MFs have gone up a lot these past few years.

Just the MFs and the PFD charge which has also gone up.

Question No good deed goes unpunished with RCI...

It's my experience and opinion that RCI never does ANYTHING which is actually in members' interests, unless it's MORE in RCI's OWN best interest.

That said, what am I missing here --- RCI doing something good, which is of no immediately obvious benefit to them?? I am dubious, suspicious and curious....
